Navidrome and Subsonic
Studio connects to Navidrome and compatible OpenSubsonic servers using the Subsonic REST API. Supported servers include Navidrome, Subsonic, LMS, and Gonic when they expose compatible endpoints.
- Open the Navidrome/Subsonic destination in Studio.
- Add the server URL and your server credentials.
- Test or save the connection.
- Start a library scan.
Use the server's base URL, including its path prefix when hosted below one. HTTPS is strongly recommended outside a trusted local network.
Studio scans remote albums and songs into its local library index in batches. The remote source then appears as its own folder in the main Library, with the normal All, Artists, Albums, Genres, and Playlists tabs.
Remote tracks keep their streaming URI and server identity. Studio does not rewrite or delete music on the server during a library scan.
Studio requests cover art directly from the connected server and caches it locally. Navidrome artist images are stored in Studio's artist-picture cache and reused by artist portraits across Library and playback views.
Artwork priority is:
- A custom artist image selected in Studio
- Cached Navidrome/Subsonic artist artwork
- Other configured artist-artwork sources
- Studio's generated placeholder
This means a manually selected image is never overwritten by a later background download.
Navidrome/Subsonic playlists are fetched during synchronization and appear in Studio's playlist library. Playlist tracks are matched to their scanned remote track records in batches, which keeps large playlist imports responsive.
- Run another server scan after adding music, artwork, or playlists in Navidrome.
- Cached artwork remains usable between launches.
- Temporary network failures are retryable and do not block the rest of the artist queue.
- Disconnecting or disabling an artwork source does not remove custom images.
Studio uses modern salt-and-token authentication for normal Subsonic API requests. Credentials and connection settings are stored locally using atomic file replacement to reduce corruption risk.
