  • Lit Review Writing Schedule - moved to github projects kanban board
    • is it still worth coming up with a list of search terms based on the state-of-the-art categories in order to find relevant literature in those sections? Technically, I have a small handful of literature ready for each section but how can I make this more comprehensive?

    • "OSS is constituted by the sharing of instructions that will be interpreted by a computer. Similarly, open design is based on developing and sharing designs and instructions to create physical objects (Smith, 2008)"
    • thinking about the divide between hardware vs software. Hardware always requires a human to interpret in order to execute, while software can be executed by a computer. Is it worth looking into if the the automation of hardware production, has been less succeessful than software automation? Software automation has been problematic in social contexts, where has it appeared in hardware?
  • Defining instrumentation
  • open firmware - not in scope? It's less of a useable deliverable and more of the innards

  • Research project scoping
    • qualitative interviews - interested in semi-structured interviews focused on the activity model (Boujut, 2019). This one partitioned the activities of core members of OSHI projects (e.g. ideation, developing, prototyping, producing, using) and their participation rates. Thinking about how this could be repurposed for interviewing Documentation practices.
    • i'm guessing grant cycles, have research project pitched for January 2021?
