If your menu has been customized, the Site Map link at the bottom of every page displays a list of all available pages as an alternate means of navigation.

The other people involved in a transaction are cashiers. You need at least one cashier to login and run a live transaction. The special training login, 9999, is always available but transactions rung under that cashier are excluded from sales reporting. By default Cashier editing tools are located in the Admin menu. Page names in the Site Map are listed in parenthesis.

Cashier Settings

Cashiers have the following settings

  • Cashier Number (abbreviated #) is unique to each cashier and can not be edited.
  • First and Last Name. Be aware that this information will appear on the POS screen and receipts so omitting last names or using only last initials is probably best for privacy.
  • Password is what the cashier types to log into POS.
  • Cashiers are subdivided into Regular and Manager roles. In a default configuration, a Manager can log into a lane even if another cashier has locked it. Several other POS functions may be configured to require a Manager-level cashier's approval as well.
  • Active status. Only active cashier accounts can be used to log into POS.
  • Birth date. This is only relevant for stores selling age-restricted items (e.g., alcohol)

Editing Cashiers

Go to Admin => View/edit cashiers (Site Map: View Cashiers). The top drop down switches between displaying active and disabled accounts. Click the Edit/pencil icon to change a cashiers' attributes. Click the Trash/delete icon to remove a cashier account. Marking an account inactive is probably preferable to deletion in most cases. This maintains a better historical record when viewing old transactions.

Creating a new Cashier

Go to Admin => Add a new cashier (Site Map:: Add Cashier) and fill out the form. A unique 4-digit password is automatically generated for the new cashier. To change it, see Editing Cashiers above.

Syncing Data

Each lane maintains its own list of cashiers. To update each lane's list of cashiers, choose Cashiers from the Synchronize menu.
