The lane has some touchscreen functionality built in. To enable touchscreen options:

  • Turn on QuickKeys on the Plugins tab. This provides touch-friendly menus.
  • "Enable onscreen keys" on the Extras tab under Display Settings.

Touch operations

Dialog boxes at minimum will provide a touchable Clear button. If other actions are possible, such as Confirm, button(s) will also be provided. This is true of the majority of dialog but not yet all of them. Non-conforming dialogs should be reported as UI bugs.

Pages with lists will include arrow buttons for scrolling up & down as well as paging up & down. On the main screen of POS, the items are all touchable to change the current selection.

Five new menu launcher buttons appear on the button of the screen in touchscreen mode. These are menus 1001 through 1005 (left to right) and should be configured in the QuickLookups table. There is an editor for this in Office's site map named Quick Key/Menu Editor. It is available after the Office QuickLookups plugin is enabled (Install > Plugins) and the QuickLookups table is created (Install > Updates).

CORE does not currently provide any kind of built-in touch keyboard for entering numbers or letters. The device's own, OS-provided keyboard is almost certainly superior to anything we could cobble together.
