CeloHT was born from a simple vision: using technology to create real opportunities for communities that need greater access to financial tools, education, and sustainable development.
The project began in 2022 with the ambition to explore how blockchain technology could become a practical solution for communities in Haiti and beyond.
At its foundation, CeloHT identified three major challenges:
- Limited access to financial education and digital financial tools.
- Barriers preventing many communities from participating in the global digital economy.
- The need for sustainable initiatives that create long-term social and environmental impact.
CeloHT chose the Celo ecosystem because of its mission to make blockchain technology accessible and useful for everyday people.
The Celo network provides the infrastructure that allows CeloHT to promote:
- Accessible digital payments
- Stablecoin-based transactions using cUSD
- Community-focused Web3 education
- Open and transparent financial innovation
What started as an idea evolved into a community-driven initiative built around three pillars:
Providing knowledge about blockchain, Web3, digital finance, and decentralized tools to help individuals participate in the digital economy.
Building a community-based network that helps people access digital financial services through trusted local agents.
Supporting environmental restoration through tree planting initiatives and community awareness.
CeloHT represents the connection between Haitian innovation and global Web3 technology.
The project was created with the belief that communities should not only consume technology — they should understand it, use it, and help shape its future.
By combining education, financial inclusion, blockchain technology, and environmental responsibility, CeloHT aims to demonstrate how open-source innovation can create meaningful impact.
CeloHT continues to grow as a community-powered initiative focused on building accessible solutions, creating partnerships, and expanding opportunities for people in Haiti, the Caribbean, and the global diaspora.
From a local vision to a global mission — CeloHT is building technology with purpose.
