Release Notes

Emerald & FireRed Nat. Dex Extension v1.1.3 by CyanSixFour

The original ROM hack designed for the IronMON challenge. 1209 Pokémon up to Scarlet & Violet are available, including forms and Pokémon from The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

Currently uses Generation III moves, abilities and mechanics, plus a few Fairy-type moves so Fairy-type Pokémon can have STAB options. Level-up learnsets, the type chart, and each Pokémon's BST have been updated to reflect the current generation.

Originally released as a fork of the IronMON Tracker, it has now been retired and replaced by an extension for the core Tracker. Thank you, UTDZac, for your help!

Requirements

Installation

NOTE: Nat. Dex will only work if you complete all the steps below in the exact order presented. Please carefully go through them one at a time.

  1. Ensure you have set up v8.5.0 or higher of the IronMON Tracker for BizHawk. If not, see this guide.
  2. Install the Nat Dex Tracker Extension by going to Tracker Settings (gear icon) -> Extensions -> Install a new extension
    • Copy/Paste this GitHub's url in the install textbox, then click "Install Extension"
    • After installation, go to the "Extensions" tab, click on the Nat. Dex. extension, and turn it ON (enable it)
    • image
  3. Verify the extension was installed properly by going to your Tracker folder, then opening your extensions folder.
    • Your extensions directory should now look like this:
    • natdex-folder
  4. Patch your Pokémon game ROM.
    • In the natdex\rom_patches folder, you will find ROM patches for Emerald and FireRed.
    • To patch them, visit the Patcher website. Add your base ROM to the top field, and your .bps patch to the bottom field.
    • The base ROM should be Emerald (U) or FireRed v1.1 (U).
    • You can use the Patcher website to check if you have the correct ROM. It should have a CRC-32 checksum of 1f1c08fb (Emerald) or 84ee4776 (FireRed).
  5. Only continue once you complete this step. Load the patched ROM in your emulator. Double-check it says "Nat. Dex" in the title screen
    • image
  6. Set up the New Runs feature of the Tracker. This will create randomized ROMs for you.
    • The Source ROM is the patched ROM you just created.
    • The Randomizer JAR is in the natdex folder, called randomizer-1.1.3.jar.
    • The Settings Files are located in the natdex\rnqs_files folder. Choose which one works best for you.
      • "FRLG" label means: Fire Red / Leaf Green settings
      • "RSE" label means: Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald settings
    • Double-check the settings file has the word "NatDex" in it. Do not use the original Tracker settings.
  7. Your title screen and New Runs screen should look like this. Double-check the file names you used.

  1. Use the New Runs button combination to generate a randomized ROM. This combination is A + B + Start by default but is customizable.
