1.3 Roads

A road contains a list of lanes which affect the generated mesh. Each lane has many properties such as size, material and UV settings. Instead of having the same settings along the entire road the system is much more configurable than that.
It lets you create more interesting roads such as extra lanes for parts of the road:

The blue arrows shows the lane currently edited in the inspector.
Options such as width and y-offset are animation curves where the x-axis is the distance along the road whilst the y-axis is the value. You can also configure where the lane should be on the road. By default the whole road property is enabled but if you disabled this you can configure which segments it should be on.
For example if the start index is 1 and the end index is 1 then the lane will be on the second segment of the road but not the first. A segment is between two anchor points (the red points).
You can also set a start and end offset, which is the offset from the anchor point, for example start offset 0.5 will make the lane start in the middle of that segment.
It can be a bit hard to grasp in the beginning but if you play around with the values you’ll figure out how each value affects the lane. This system allows for very complex and interesting roads, but also to quickly create simple ones as the default settings will work well for those applications.
