Superseded: do not install this build. v0.2.0 has an invalid macOS bundle signature. Install v0.2.1 or use brew install --cask deepaksilaych/tap/magi.

First Magi desktop release — an Orca-based UI for multi-repo, sess-backed coding-agent workspaces.

Download

  • macOS Apple Silicon: Magi-0.2.0-arm64.dmg (recommended) or the ZIP.
  • Open the DMG and drag Magi into Applications.
  • This first build is unsigned and unnotarized. macOS may require approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security on first launch.
  • Intel Mac, Linux desktop and Windows installers are not included in this release.

Included

  • Local and SSH/VM workspaces, each with a protected Genral workspace.
  • Multiple repositories and worktrees per workspace; GitHub cloning through gh.
  • Real sess-owned terminal sessions that survive closing the desktop app.
  • Files, Git status, diffs, PR status and attached Linear tickets.
  • Cmd+Up/Down to switch workspaces; Cmd+Left/Right to switch tabs.
  • Cmd+N new workspace, Cmd+T new terminal, Cmd+W close the focused pane/tab or archive an empty workspace.
  • Cmd+D nested side-by-side split; Cmd+Shift+D nested top/bottom split. Drag dividers to resize.
  • Drag workspace/tab grips to reorder. Click a selected name again, double-click or press F2 to rename.
  • Settings for theme, font size, compact rows and GitHub releases.
  • Cyan M on a warm yellow app icon.

Updates and prerequisites

Automatic Mac installation is disabled in this unsigned build. Settings → View releases opens the manual update page. Replacing the app preserves workspace files and running sess sessions. Signed automatic installation will require a Developer ID-signed release and verification of that upgrade path.

Execution hosts need Python 3, Git and tmux; GitHub cloning/PR status needs gh. Install your coding-agent CLI separately. SSH hosts must be reachable through your existing SSH configuration.

Validation

23 backend tests, updater state tests, hidden Electron keyboard/rename/split/drag/persistence tests, packaged runtime smoke tests, and a real local-vm sess/CLI test passed. Installer sizes and SHA-512 hashes match the included update metadata. Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Magi is an MIT-licensed fork of Orca. The sess license is included in the app resources.
