Magi v0.2.7 — paste Linear issue URLs

Magi has moved to DeepakSilaych/magi. Get new releases there.

Magi v0.2.7 accepts pasted Linear issue URLs as well as ticket IDs.

• Paste a full Linear issue URL into New workspace or Attach ticket; Magi extracts and verifies the ticket ID.
• Copied links with query strings and fragments are supported.
• Invalid or unrelated URLs are rejected before invoking the CLI.

Requires schpet/linear-cli authenticated on the execution host. Run linear auth login there and enter the API key in its terminal prompt.

Verified with 34 backend tests and an isolated packaged UI test covering URL-based workspace creation, status display, editing and detaching. Live account access still requires authentication.

Magi v0.2.6 — Git icons and Linear tickets

Magi v0.2.6 adds colored Git status icons and verified Linear ticket links.

• Colored repository, file-change and pull-request icons with hover labels.
• Optional Linear ticket when creating a workspace.
• Verify ticket IDs using schpet/linear-cli on the execution host before saving; display live status and its Linear color.
• Edit or detach tickets; failed verification preserves the existing attachment.

Requires linear installed and authenticated (linear auth login) on the workspace execution host. Live account access was not tested; CLI adapter tests, 33 backend tests and isolated UI tests passed.

Magi v0.2.5 — agent selection and scrolling

Magi v0.2.5 corrects agent-terminal selection and wheel scrolling.

• Ordinary dragging selects text locally even when an agent enables mouse capture. Hold Option/Alt for application clicks and drags.
• Restore mouse scrolling on Magi-owned tmux sessions. Wheel scrolling uses tmux history or application mouse events instead of synthetic Up/Down keys.
• Native Edit → Copy writes selected text into the clipboard event directly.

Verified in an isolated VM session with application mouse capture enabled: drag selection, actual system clipboard reads after Cmd+C and Edit → Copy, Ctrl+C, path copying, and wheel scrolling into tmux history without arrow-key input. These tests reproduce terminal protocol behavior; they do not launch a live Codex conversation.

Magi v0.2.4 — VM copy and HTTP links

Magi v0.2.4 fixes copying from VM terminals and opening HTTP links.

• Selected terminal text copies through the native desktop clipboard with Cmd+C (Ctrl+Shift+C on Linux), including Edit → Copy.
• Magi-owned tmux sessions no longer inherit remote mouse capture, so ordinary dragging selects text locally. Other tmux sessions and global settings are unchanged. Shift-drag still forces local selection when an agent captures mouse input.
• Cmd-click now opens both HTTP and HTTPS URLs in the browser. Other URL schemes remain blocked.
• Ctrl+C remains a terminal interrupt.
• Context-menu Copy path actions use the native clipboard after VM requests complete.

Verified in an isolated SSH/VM session with actual drag selection, Cmd+C, Edit → Copy, Ctrl+C, and Copy current path; backend and UI regression tests also pass.

Magi v0.2.3 — UI polish and agent logos

Magi v0.2.3 improves the existing workspace, terminal, file, and Git UI.

• Drag entire workspace rows and terminal tabs, with a drop indicator and protection for name editing and close buttons.
• Right-click workspaces, terminal tabs, panes, files, file tabs, and Git changes for targeted context actions. Genral stays protected.
• Terminal tabs have individual End session controls with confirmation; file tabs close independently and select their neighboring file.
• A fixed New terminal button, All tabs menu, and automatic scrolling keep crowded tab bars usable. Less-used workspace actions live in an overflow menu.
• Restore host/workspace/terminal selection, open file tabs, editor positions, and expanded file folders. Canonical paths prevent duplicate file tabs; working and staged diffs remain distinct.
• Keep terminal views attached while viewing files, with a cache bounded to three terminal groups and twelve cached panes (an active larger group stays intact).
• Reveal files in the tree, highlight the current file, collapse folders, preserve expansion during refresh, and close other file tabs.
• Clear read-only and diff labels, filename disambiguation, focused-pane borders, and double-click-to-equalize split dividers.
• Inline progress, specific link errors, and refreshed diff content without clearing the current view.
• Compact PR menu, clickable Git change summary, and direct attached-ticket links with a separate edit menu.
• Agent logos for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Aider, Amp, Droid, GitHub Copilot, Cursor Agent, and Pi. Identity comes from foreground processes on the execution host, including SSH VMs. Bundled logos work offline; unavailable identity falls back to the terminal icon.

Validation: 28 backend tests, updater tests, hidden Electron UI tests for shortcuts, nested splits, dragging, menus, file/scroll restoration, deduplication, Git actions, agent logo changes, bounded terminal caching, sidebar resizing, Shift+Enter, and links. Also tested the packaged app and an isolated dev-vm fixture. Strict recursive bundle-signature verification passed.

Magi v0.2.2 — terminal links and file tabs

Magi 0.2.2 adds working terminal links and file tabs.

• Cmd-click URLs to open the default browser.
• Cmd-click existing file paths to open a file tab, including line and column references. Relative paths resolve against the terminal’s actual current directory on Local or Dev-vm.
• Hold Cmd while hovering to underline available links.
• Open multiple files and diffs as tabs beside terminals; Cmd-W closes the active file tab.
• Genral now has a workspace file browser.

Validation: packaged Electron link/tab smoke test, keyboard and split/reordering regressions, 24 backend tests, TypeScript and lint checks, and a disposable dev-vm tmux/file test.

Magi v0.2.1

Fixes the invalid macOS bundle signature in v0.2.0. This release applies an ad-hoc signature and verifies the whole app before packaging. It remains not Developer ID-signed and not notarized; macOS may require first-launch approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Automatic in-app installation remains disabled.

Install with Homebrew

The cask includes Python, Git, gh and tmux dependencies. Existing manual copies of Magi must be moved out of Applications first if Homebrew reports a conflict. Workspaces are stored separately and are retained.

Changes

• Drag either sidebar's inner edge to resize it.
• Top-right buttons hide and restore workspaces and repositories; sizes and visibility persist.
• Restore Orca's Shift+Enter non-submit terminal encoding.
• Find Homebrew tools when opened from Finder.

Magi v0.2.0

Superseded: do not install this build. v0.2.0 has an invalid macOS bundle signature. Install v0.2.1 or use brew install --cask deepaksilaych/tap/magi.

First Magi desktop release — an Orca-based UI for multi-repo, sess-backed coding-agent workspaces.

Updates and prerequisites

Automatic Mac installation is disabled in this unsigned build. Settings → View releases opens the manual update page. Replacing the app preserves workspace files and running sess sessions. Signed automatic installation will require a Developer ID-signed release and verification of that upgrade path.

Execution hosts need Python 3, Git and tmux; GitHub cloning/PR status needs gh. Install your coding-agent CLI separately. SSH hosts must be reachable through your existing SSH configuration.

Validation

23 backend tests, updater state tests, hidden Electron keyboard/rename/split/drag/persistence tests, packaged runtime smoke tests, and a real local-vm sess/CLI test passed. Installer sizes and SHA-512 hashes match the included update metadata. Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Magi is an MIT-licensed fork of Orca. The sess license is included in the app resources.
