Mount Target IP : 10.0.0.212 Mount Target : hub-private-subnet
VM1 : hub-public-subnet VM2 : hub-public-subnet
login to vm1 and run this command
sudo dnf install -y nfs-utils
showmount -e 10.0.0.212
now run the commands
sudo mkdir /fss-share
sudo mount -t nfs 10.0.0.212:/FileSystem-20260815-1125-22 /fss-share
df -h | grep fss
sudo su -
echo "Hello from VM1" > /fss-share/test.txt
Check:
cat /fss-share/test.txt
Output:
Hello from VM1
now go to VM2 and do the same steps
cat /fss-share/test.txt
Output:
it should be Hello from VM1
Now it is proved that
VM1 → File Create ↓ OCI File Storage Service ↓ VM2 → Same File Read
extra verification on VM2
sudo su -
echo "Hello from VM2" > /fss-share/test2.txt
फिर check करो:
cat /fss-share/test2.txt
now again in VM1 run
cat /fss-share/test2.txt
Interview Answer (Real Practical Experience)
"I configured OCI File Storage Service by creating a File System and Mount Target. I mounted the same NFS file system on two Compute Instances and verified shared access by creating files from one VM and accessing them from the other. This demonstrated shared storage across multiple servers."

Interview Question: What is Mount Target?
"A Mount Target is an NFS endpoint that provides network access to an OCI File Storage Service file system. Compute Instances use the Mount Target IP address to mount and access the shared file system."
Block Volume = Storage for one server FSS = Shared storage for multiple servers
