Augments
Augments slot into a pack's augment tab and change what it can do. Tier II unlocks one slot, tier III two, tier IV three. The themed packs get two.
One augment of each type per pack. You cannot stack two Range augments for double the reach — the slot refuses it, and so does the resolver, so a pack assembled by command cannot cheat it either.
| Augment | Tiers | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Range | I–III | +4 / +8 / +12 blocks of aura |
| Focus | I | +1 effect slot |
| Amplification | I | +1 reachable effect level |
| Efficiency | I–III | −25% / −40% / −55% fuel cost |
| Capacity | I–III | Fuel buffer ×2 / ×3 / ×4 |
| Attunement | I–II | Unlocks wider sharing than your tier allows |
| Discretion | I–II | Hides the particle swirl; at II, the status icon too |
Attunement raises your effective tier for the audience check only. A tier II pack with Attunement II can reach Pets, which normally needs tier III. It changes nothing else.
Amplification raises the ceiling; it does not raise your effects. You still choose which effect goes to level II, and it doubles that effect's cost.
Capacity matters more than it looks. The pack refuses fuel its buffer cannot hold whole, so a small buffer simply cannot accept a netherite ingot — which is what makes Capacity, and the higher tiers, worth having.
Discretion at tier II hides the status icon as well as the particles. Useful on PvP servers, or if you dislike the swirl.
Efficiency multiplies the total, after audience and level. It is worth most on an expensive setup, not on a single self-only Speed.
Every augment is the same item — its identity is a component — so they all share a shape.
Tier I — amethyst shards around the core:
A
AMA A = Amethyst Shard
A M = the core, see below
Tier II — amethyst blocks at the corners:
BAB
AMA B = Amethyst Block
BAB
Tier III — eyes of ender replace the shards:
BEB
EME E = Eye of Ender
BEB
| Augment | Core |
|---|---|
| Range | Ender Pearl |
| Focus | Spyglass |
| Amplification | Glowstone |
| Efficiency | Block of Redstone |
| Capacity | Block of Gold |
| Attunement | Echo Shard |
| Discretion | Phantom Membrane |
Focus and Amplification exist only at tier I; Attunement and Discretion stop at II.
Augments are one registered item plus a component pointing at a datapack registry entry, precisely so a datapack can introduce a brand new augment with no code at all. See the Datapack Guide.
This wiki is the reference for Portable Beacons. Numbers on these pages are taken from the shipped datapack files — if a modpack you are playing has changed them, its own values win.
