The Beacon Screen
Everything about a beacon is configured in its own screen. Open it by using the beacon in your hand.
The main panel holds only what you touch often: the effect cases across the top, the info panel under them, and your inventory below.
Everything you set up once and then leave alone lives in tabs down the right-hand side:
| Tab | Holds |
|---|---|
| Power | The master switch |
| Stats | Resolved range, slots, buffer, and what your augments changed |
| Augments | The augment slots for this beacon |
| Fuel | The fuel slot and the gauge |
The augment and fuel tabs slide out as drawers. Only the open one is interactive, so a closed drawer's slots cannot be clicked by accident.
If the server has turned fuel off, the fuel tab is not there at all.
Each case is one configured effect. An empty case opens a searchable picker listing only what this beacon is allowed to project — type to filter, arrow keys to move, Enter to choose.
The picker shows a four-segment meter next to each effect, comparing costs at a glance. Effects your beacon cannot take are not padlocked into the list; they are simply not there.
A beacon shows one case per effect slot, plus one empty one — so a tier I beacon shows two, and a Focus-augmented tier IV shows four.
Selecting a case fills the panel below with that effect's details and its three controls:
- Enabled / disabled — per effect, independent of the master switch. Keeping Strength configured but off, then turning it on before a fight, avoids both paying for nothing and reconfiguring every time.
- Level — cycles up to whatever your beacon, the effect itself and any Amplification augment allow, whichever is lowest. Doubles the cost each step.
- Audience — Self, Team, Allies or Allies and Pets. What you may pick depends on the beacon and on any Attunement augment; modes it cannot reach are not offered. See Effects for the costs.
The power tab is the master switch, and it always works: wherever you are, whatever else is
configured, you can stop the drain. Only changing what the beacon projects can be restricted, and
only if the server enables require_beacon_to_configure.
Switching on or off plays the beacon activate / deactivate sound, because the only other signal is a small label changing colour.
A running beacon glints in your inventory, so you can tell it is on without opening it.
Its durability-style bar is the fuel buffer. Hovering it shows the beacon's tier, its configured effects, and its remaining runtime. Hold Shift for the full detail.
This wiki is the reference for Portable Beacons. Numbers on these pages are taken from the shipped datapack files — if a modpack you are playing has changed them, its own values win.
