Verify that node.js is installed. Note: Do not use
sudo, as permission problems will be created with some Ember CLI commands.- OS X: install node.js with
Homebrew. - Verify Node is set up correctly by typing the following commands on the command line. Both should output a version number:
node -v npm -v

Globally install the Ember CLI:
npm install -g ember-cli -
Note: Although this step was in the Ember Get Started guide,
npm installstates Bower is deprecated in favor of WebPack. Skipping this step for now.
Globally install Bower, a package manager that maintains front-end dependencies up-to-date (including jQuery, Ember and QUnit):
`npm install -g bower`
- On OS X and other UNIX-like systems, install Watchman v4.x or later. Watchman provides Ember CLI a more effective way to watch project changes. Note 1:
Nodewatcherhas trouble with large trees on OS X;Watchmansolves these problems. Watchman documentationbrew install watchmanNote 2:npmhas a similarly-named watchman package which is not what we want. Ifnpm watchmanis installed, a warning similar to the following will occur:If this occurs, uninstall withinvalid watchman found, version: [2.9.8] did not satisfy [3.0.0], falling back to Nodewatcher
npm uninstall -g watchmanThe situation can be clarified with the commandwhich -a watchman. - For testing services, install PhantomJS:
npm install -g phantomjs-prebuilt
- Create a new project:
ember new app-name. Ember creates an app-name directory and generates the application structure... or use the Ember client template installation checklist. - Launch the app:
cd new-app ember server - Navigate to
http://localhost:4200to see the new app in action. - Test results are at
https://localhost:4200/tests
