Reference-only screenshots of the 1989 DOS and 1990 Genesis versions of Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs (© Electronic Arts) and of TV Sports: Basketball (© Cinemaware). They are here so contributors can study the look of the original; they are not covered by this project's GPL license and must not be used as game assets (NtBA's art is original). If a rights holder asks, they will be removed.

later-ea-game-target-look.png |
Bulls versus Blazers and the NBA Playoffs (EA, 1992 — as identified by the project owner) | The look NtBA is aiming for: tight half-court camera, large animated players, subtle floor, centre logo, courtside ad boards, compact HUD |
genesis-lakers-celtics-title.png |
Sega Genesis | Title screen: black background, big stacked outlined team-name lettering around a small half-court-and-crowd picture, twinkling star sparkles in the corners, "and the NBA Playoffs" line, small yellow credit text at the bottom |
tvsports-basketball-title.png |
TV Sports: Basketball (Cinemaware, 1990 — as identified by the project owner) | Title screen: a framed, bevelled bronze plaque with a big winged logotype and a basketball over a blurred arena and crowd, a small publisher badge at the top and a decorative border around the screen |
tvsports-basketball-mode-menu.png |
TV Sports: Basketball (Cinemaware, 1990 — as identified by the project owner) | Play-mode menu: three chunky outlined orange items (Exhibition, League Play, Clipboard) on a plain textured dark-teal background, a small basketball as the selection cursor, a tiny copyright line at the bottom |

Inspiration for NtBA's start screen and play-mode menu (the start screen and menu tasks).

Layout and mood only: NtBA draws its own title art, name and lettering, with no league or team marks.
What we take from them is written up in Visual Notes.
