Getting Started

This guide walks you through the basic use of ContextForge. It assumes you have never used the application before.

1. Copy a YouTube URL

Find a YouTube video you want to work with and copy its URL. Any standard YouTube link works, including short youtu.be links.

2. Paste the URL into ContextForge

Open ContextForge and paste the URL into one of the video fields. You can use the Paste button or press ⌘V.

ContextForge checks the link, loads the video's details, and shows the title, channel, and publication date. You can add up to three videos at once.

3. Choose a prompt

A prompt tells ContextForge what kind of output you want. The app comes with a few starter prompts, such as Instagram Post, LinkedIn Article, and Study Notes.

Select a prompt from the list, or choose Custom Prompt to write your own.

4. Generate the output

Press Generate (or ⌘R). ContextForge downloads the transcript for each video, cleans it up, and combines it with your prompt into a single block of text.

5. Copy or export the result

When the output is ready, you can:

  • Copy it to your clipboard with the Copy button or ⌘C, then paste it into your AI tool of choice.
  • Export it as a Markdown file with Export Markdown or ⌘⇧S.

That's it. You can repeat this workflow as often as you like, and use Clear (or ⌘⌫) to start a fresh session.
