en US Import Guide
On the web, open Settings → Library Sources & Imports → Library, add a library, and choose its folder and file organization. With our Docker Quick Start, select /libraries/books.
Try a few books before importing your whole collection. Once the library contains imported entries, its root path and organization mode cannot be changed directly.
| Mode | Best for | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Single books | Showing each file as a separate book | Files in subfolders also appear separately; an image or audio folder can form one comic or audiobook |
| Volumes | Keeping a series or multiple volumes together | Each first-level folder becomes a book with files and folders to browse inside; individual files at the root remain separate books |
For example:
library/
Essays.epub
Long Novel/
01.epub
02.epub
Audio Story/
001.mp3
002.mp3
With Volumes, open “Long Novel” to choose either volume. With Single books, the two EPUBs appear separately. Put audiobook tracks in the same folder and number them 001, 002, and so on. Multi-disc tracks can use subfolders such as CD1 and CD2; keep different stories in separate folders.
Number comic images as 001.jpg, 002.jpg, and so on, or use CBZ/ZIP or CBR/RAR image archives. See Supported Formats.
- Files already on the server: put them in an added library folder and wait for scanning.
- Upload from your computer: use the web upload action and choose a folder inside an enabled, writable library.
- Content is incomplete: use Continue import for that content, then check Import Record for progress or errors.
Titles, authors, and covers may appear after the files become visible. A missing cover does not necessarily mean the import failed.
Search and filter your library, and add books to shelves. Open a book's management actions to edit its title, author, tags, or cover. Configure automatic information sources in Settings → Smart Organization.
Rescanning updates changes in your folders; it does not move or rename original files. Both automatic and manual scans can remove entries for files confirmed missing. If a NAS folder disconnects, restore access before scanning. Records are retained for folders that could not be read.
Moving or renaming files does not guarantee that their progress and associated information will follow. Back up before bulk changes. When deleting a book or file, check whether the confirmation includes deleting original files.
Check that the library is enabled, the file is in the correct folder, and its size and extension meet the library's scan rules. Check ignored-file rules and Import Record, then retry. Avoid repeatedly uploading the same file or simply changing its extension. See Troubleshooting.
