Open-source openFrame parts list

This page is a list of all the open-source openFrame parts that are available. There may be proprietary openFrame-compatible parts available from commercial manufacturers, or that you have designed yourself, but information and designs for these are not maintained in this wiki. If you would like to make these parts available though, please contact us!

Parts

Parts for the openFrame are currently classed as either being:

• Layers - these comprise the major units of the openFrame, which can be stacked on the base plate to build your microscope. These often have ports and apertures in them
• Inserts - these are parts that are designed to be inserted into layers via the apertures within them to give the layers particular functions
• Port plugs - these components are designed to provide light-tightening of ports in layers
• Aperture covers - these components are designed to provide light-tightening of apertures in layers
• Clamps - these components are designed for clamping together other parts of an openFrame and allow for straightforward joining/release of parts
• Transilluminator - these parts are used in constructing a transilluminator
• Adapters - these are components that serve to join other parts of an openFrame together, as well as joining components/items that are not part of the openFrame e.g. a camera adapter will screw into a camera, and be clamped onto by a clamp
