ModuleModo v0.20.0

@Ivanou-Dzmitry Ivanou-Dzmitry released this 27 Oct 15:59

What's new in 0.20.0

New modules

  • Underground module: a plain wall 3 x 0.5 m built below level 0 (top edge at Z=0, pivot at Z=0). The new Below Ground option works with any straight module.
  • Attic (technical floor): a low module, 3 x 1 m by default. Plain or with a small square window, with or without a cornice. Frame, trim, belt course, pilasters and multiple windows still work on it.
  • The panel now has 41 ready-made buttons in 7 groups. Every button sets its own width and height, so a low module no longer leaves its size to the next button.

Redo panel (F9)

  • Every bounded numeric field is now a slider. Wall width and height stay plain number fields.

Fixes

  • Narrow semicircular arched windows and doors no longer flip upside down (a rounding error turned the arc into a bowl).
  • Arched trim on bay windows with pointed arches no longer overshoots the cell.

Quality check: all 20,201 enumerated parameter combinations were generated without errors, and 17,689 of them (87.6%) pass the strict topology test (no n-gons, no T-junctions, no duplicate vertices, no open edges). The known remaining cases are corner modules with one wall and a vertical window stack.

Procedural low-poly wall modules for Blender 5.2+.

Install house_modules.zip via Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions > Install from Disk.

New

  • Grouped panel: 36 buttons in 6 collapsible groups, related variants share a row. Door-only loggia added.
  • Window trim: trapezoid lintel, pediment, arch band over round and pointed arches, and a keystone (a wedge block on the crown of the arch).
  • Window frame: a closed ring round the window (a U shape for doors). With a sill, the frame stands on it as a separate body.
  • More decorations: panel under the window, belt course, pilasters.
  • Shutters: separate closed objects (children of the module, origin on the hinge axis), so they can be rotated open or shut. Straight, round and pointed windows.
  • Clean module edges: only the corner vertices stay on the side edges, so modules weld into one house. Entrance and balcony side margin is at least 0.1 m, edge strips have no long thin triangles, bays stay off the edge.
  • Arches default to 8 segments (9 for the keystone button). Sliders in the redo panel where the range is limited.
  • Docs updated (README, Russian manual).

Known limits

  • Two windows stacked vertically add one extra pair of vertices on the edge.
  • Plinth, cornice and belt add their own edge vertices; pilasters are not combined with them.
  • Shutters exist only on straight window modules.

@Ivanou-Dzmitry Ivanou-Dzmitry released this 26 Oct 20:08

A new grouped panel and a loggia with a single door.

New

  • Grouped panel. The buttons are now collapsible sections (Windows, Doors and Entrance, Corners, Bay Windows, Balcony and Loggia, Other). Related variants share a row, with a caption on the left and linked buttons on the right, for example "2 Windows: Horizontal | Vertical". Each section remembers whether it is open.
  • Loggia with a single door. A new "Door Only" option puts one door in the middle of the back wall instead of a door and a window (Back Wall option, and its own button next to the usual Loggia). It is also a lighter mesh: 24 vertices instead of 40.

Changed

  • The panel now has 24 buttons (it was 23).
  • Button captions are shorter because the section gives the context, for example "Outer Corner: 2 Windows" instead of "Corner: 2 Windows".

Docs

The manual describes the new panel layout, the Door Only loggia and its defaults.

Entrance modules, plinth and cornice, corners and bay windows.

New

  • Entrance: one to three doors on a threshold with a porch slab (it stands on the ground, so no bottom face) and an optional canopy. Buttons: Entrance: Door + Porch, Entrance: Porch + Canopy, Entrance: 2 Doors.
  • Door with a threshold: Door Wall now has a threshold (Door Step), not a niche open to the floor. Door Step = 0 keeps the old behaviour.
  • Plinth and cornice for any module: full-width rectangles extruded out of the wall, open at the sides so neighbouring modules continue them. The plinth keeps its bottom face for upper floors.
  • Outer corner and inner corner: two window walls (windows on both walls or on one) with the plinth and cornice mitred along one diagonal, no extra vertices.
  • Bay windows: splayed and box, windows on the front and on the sides.
  • Full-height bay: takes the whole module with no wall, top or bottom, so floors stack and weld together. Takes a plinth for the ground floor and a cornice for the top one.

Fixed

  • Mirroring now affects only the wall being built, so several walls can live in one mesh.

Docs

The manual now covers every button and the defaults of all modules.

23 buttons in the ModuleModo panel, all tweakable in the redo panel (F9).

ModuleModo 0.8.2.
