v1.23.5 - Paid message isolation and pop-out addresses

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 08 Oct 21:21
a4af058

Fixed

  • Twitch Cheers and their accompanying message go only to Twitch, even when Kick or YouTube is selected. Kicks stay in Kick's native gift controls. Paid events remain visible in merged chat.
  • Ordinary pop-outs show a temporary local address with the source site and Friendly Chat/channel label instead of about:blank. Existing panel, draft, connections and return behavior are retained, with loading/failure cleanup.
  • Bundled update notes describe version 1.23.5.

Downloads

  • Chrome: FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.5.zip (extract and Load unpacked).
  • Firefox: FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.5-firefox.xpi (Mozilla-signed, self-distributed).
  • The unsigned Firefox XPI is for development; updates.json supports automatic signed Firefox updates.

Addresses #74 and #75. Native Firefox/live platform testing remains separate from synthetic regression tests. The Chrome Web Store package is a workflow artifact; this GitHub release does not submit it to the store.

v1.23.4 - Compact chat controls and update notes

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 05 Oct 21:21
ab34bf0

What's new in 1.23.4

  • Collapse Platforms and Send to independently to make more room for chat.
  • Found, unadded-channel notices remain visible while Platforms is collapsed. Active send destinations and reply destinations remain visible while Send to is collapsed.
  • Both sections start expanded. Each expand/collapse choice is remembered across channel visits and browser restarts, synced with settings, and included in backups.
  • A bundled Release notes page opens once after each version update, with highlights from 1.23.0 through 1.23.4. Reopen it from the popup or Settings. Reloading the same version does not repeat the announcement.

Earlier updates included in the notes page

1.23.3

Reduced offscreen image and unnecessary layout/emote redraw work; remembered explicit YouTube send choices per host channel; kept Twitch notifications and their buttons accessible.

1.23.2

A single responsive row shows up to eight newest Twitch/Kick emotes combined.

1.23.1

Recent emote history; automatic YouTube send selection when ready; YouTube mention replies, richer messages and feed tools; Copy message on all three platforms.

1.23.0

Optional YouTube live chat, suggestions and saved links; browser-session YouTube sending and access setup; message recall; Firefox editing, notification and Kick page-activation fixes; Twitch Gigantify emote sizing.

Downloads

  • Chrome: FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.4.zip for the documented unpacked-extension installation/update process.
  • Firefox: FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.4-firefox.xpi, signed by Mozilla. Existing signed installations use the Firefox update feed.
  • The unsigned Firefox XPI is for temporary development loading.

Validation: 3,370 local checks passed, with 100% changed-runtime coverage (not whole-repository coverage). Actual Chrome and Firefox-mode browser fixtures and both package checks passed. Native Firefox and live platform behavior were not newly tested locally. Chrome Web Store submission is separate.

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 04 Oct 03:01
1f05748

Fixes

  • Reduce offscreen emote/image resource work and unnecessary chat layout and recent-emote redraws during busy chats.
  • Remember explicit YouTube send choices per host channel on the local device, matching Twitch/Kick behavior.
  • Keep Twitch notification popups and their buttons clear of the overlay, including stacked notifications.

Validation

  • Full local suite: 3,366 passed, zero failures.
  • Changed runtime coverage: 221/221 executable lines, 36/36 functions, and 200/200 V8 ranges.
  • Synthetic Chrome and simulated Firefox regression scenarios passed. Native Firefox and live system-resource percentages were not measured.
  • No worker deployment, permission changes, account resets, or Chrome Web Store submission.

v1.23.2 — Responsive recent emote bar

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 03:16
64bd82c

What's Changed

  • Limit recent emotes to eight and release v1.23.2 by @JRBlaze in #71

Full Changelog: v1.23.1...v1.23.2

v1.23.1 — Recent emotes and richer YouTube chat

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 28 Sep 22:21
d4d1718

What's new

  • Recent emote bar: reuse recently sent Twitch and Kick emotes above the message box. Each platform has its own list, remembered on this device. Hide the bar in settings if preferred. (#67)
  • YouTube sending: the YouTube destination turns on when its signed-in composer is ready. Check the account shown; you can turn the destination off. (#68)
  • YouTube replies: click a chatter's name or select an @mention to prepare a reply addressed only to YouTube.
  • Richer YouTube messages: received emotes, links, mention highlights, Super Chats, supported Super Stickers and membership/gift notices. Badges use available native images; missing or failed images are omitted, with no MEMBER/MOD text replacements.
  • YouTube chat tools: show/hide its feed, right-click authors for local recent messages, and open the current video's native chat for remaining YouTube controls.
  • Copy message: right-click a message on any platform to copy just its body, with emote names, without usernames, timestamps or badges. Useful for raid messages.

Downloads

  • Chrome: download FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.1.zip, extract it and update/load the extension folder through Chrome's extension page.
  • Firefox: install FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.1-firefox.xpi. Existing signed installs use the included update feed.
  • The firefox-unsigned.xpi is for temporary development loading, not normal installation.

YouTube availability depends on its embedded chat and your browser's sign-in/cookie rules. Replies are plain-text mentions. Moderation, polls, purchases and native emote selection still use YouTube's own interface. Emotes or badge images on unsupported URLs may be omitted or use the documented text fallback for emotes.

Validation: 3,365 local checks passed; 100% changed-JavaScript coverage. Isolated Chrome and simulated Firefox browser checks passed. Native Firefox and live-service behavior were not newly verified. Chrome Web Store submission is separate from this GitHub release.

v1.23.0 — YouTube chat and browser improvements

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 27 Sep 02:51
30984b6

YouTube joins Friendly Chat

  • Merge YouTube live chat into the feed on Twitch and Kick. Paste a live-video or channel URL, choose a live-channel suggestion, or save a YouTube channel link for future visits.
  • A one-time introduction and setup buttons help new and existing users allow optional YouTube access.
  • Send to YouTube using your signed-in browser session when its native chat box is available. YouTube sending is off by default: check the displayed account and select its send target before posting. Firefox includes a sign-in access setup that keeps tracking protection enabled.
  • Selected YouTube sending is highlighted red. Duplicate YouTube rows, the extra YT name badge, and successful-send status messages have been removed.

Other improvements

  • Press Up/Down in the message box to recall recently sent messages.
  • Fixed Backspace/Delete in Firefox on Twitch and Kick.
  • Twitch and Kick notifications stay visible and clickable above chat, including stacked toasts and moved/resized panels.
  • Kick Drops, inventory, and creator dashboard pages no longer open an unwanted overlay. The live-chat dashboard at /stream remains supported.
  • Twitch Gigantify emote rewards now display enlarged.
  • Removed the developer redirect URL from ordinary account settings.

Install and update

  • Chrome: download FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.0.zip and follow the README's unpacked-extension instructions. Reload the extension and refresh open stream tabs after replacing the files.
  • Firefox: install FriendlyChatExtension-v1.23.0-firefox.xpi, signed by Mozilla. Existing signed installs receive this version through the Firefox update feed. The unsigned XPI is for temporary development loading only.
  • YouTube is optional and requires site access. Reading and sending depend on YouTube's native embedded chat and browser session availability; normal YouTube chat restrictions apply. No YouTube API key or self-hosted service is needed.

Validation: 3,362 tests passed; 100% coverage of new/changed JavaScript (not whole-repository coverage); five isolated browser suites passed. See VALIDATION-v1.23.0.md for evidence and browser-test limits. Includes fixes for #62, #63, and #64.

v1.22.6

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Sep 21:16
7c642ad

Fixes and improvements

  • Native chat hiding: the “Hide the site's own chat while merged” setting follows chat elements when Twitch or Kick redraws them. Fixes #56.
  • Kick emote drops: the overlay leaves room for short drop notifications so you can use the site's own controls. It never redeems them automatically. Fixes #57.
  • Multiple chat windows: pop out chats from several stream tabs at once. Keep each source tab open. Shift-click the pop-out button for the optional always-on-top mode. Fixes #58.
  • Native user cards: the overlay steps aside before opening the site's user card and waits for delayed cards to appear. Fixes #59.
  • Moderator controls: quick actions now sit above the username and message instead of covering them. Fixes #60.

Downloads

  • Chrome: download FriendlyChatExtension-v1.22.6.zip, extract it, and reload the unpacked extension. Refresh existing Twitch/Kick tabs to use the updated overlay.
  • Firefox: install FriendlyChatExtension-v1.22.6-firefox.xpi (Mozilla-signed). Existing signed installations receive this version through the Firefox update feed.
  • The firefox-unsigned.xpi is for development/testing, not normal installation.

Validated with the full test suite, changed-code coverage, isolated browser regression checks and Chrome/Firefox package verification. The owner confirmed the fixes work as intended.

What's Changed

  • Fix GIF popup and Twitch watch streak sharing (v1.22.5) by @JRBlaze in #55

v1.22.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Sep 17:31
b2f9e7d

Changes

  • Automatically activate browser-downloaded extension updates without restarting the browser.
  • Remember chat text size for each display configuration, including pop-out chat. Set Text size on this display once on each monitor; Use default restores the global setting.
  • Keep display preferences local to the device, with updated settings guidance and privacy documentation.

Unpacked Chrome installs still require manually replacing their files and reloading the extension. Existing Twitch/Kick tabs may need refreshing after an extension update. Displays reporting identical dimensions share a text-size preference.

Downloads

  • Chrome: download the ZIP and follow the unpacked installation/update instructions.
  • Firefox: use the signed -firefox.xpi. Existing signed installations receive this version through the normal Firefox update feed.
  • The -firefox-unsigned.xpi is for temporary development installs.

v1.22.3

Choose a tag to compare

@JRBlaze JRBlaze released this 20 Sep 04:36
f6e9745

Fixes

  • Streamer names now appear in @name autocomplete on Twitch and Kick even if the streamer has not typed in chat. Type @ and at least one letter to see matching suggestions.
  • Fixed Kick Channel Points reward confirmations, including Hydrate, being covered by the extension before redemption could be completed. The overlay stays hidden through the reward selection and returns when the panel closes.

Downloads

  • Chrome: download FriendlyChatExtension-v1.22.3.zip and follow the README installation/update instructions.
  • Firefox: install FriendlyChatExtension-v1.22.3-firefox.xpi, signed by Mozilla. Existing signed installations can update through Firefox's normal update checks.
  • The unsigned Firefox package is included for development testing.
