Kip v0.7.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Sep 11:45

Kip v0.7.3

Platform File
Windows 10/11 x64 Kip-Setup-*.exe — run it; per-user install, no admin prompt
Linux x64 (AppImage) Kip-*.AppImage — chmod +x, run it; updates itself
Linux x64 (portable) Kip-*.tar.gz — tar -xzf, run ./kip

From here on Kip can update itself: the in-app "a newer Kip is available" banner gets an Update button (Windows installer + AppImage). The portable tar.gz updates by hand.

Windows SmartScreen: the binary is signed but the certificate is self-issued, so SmartScreen still shows unknown publisher — More info → Run anyway.
Linux/Wayland: ./kip --ozone-platform-hint=auto.

  • Batch review for Hatch. "Review each source's pages before writing" now
proposes and commits a group of pending files at once (3 by default)
instead of one at a time — one combined LLM call proposes the group, one
write pass commits it, with independent per-file checkboxes and a "Skip
    this file" per card (#151).
  • Hatch drains the whole pending queue in one click. "Start — hatch N
files" used to process one 10-file chunk per click; it now keeps going
on its own until nothing's pending, with a circuit breaker that stops and
surfaces an error if a round makes no progress instead of retrying failures
    forever.
  • Kip's own pages/ folder no longer gets indexed by Logseq itself,
eliminating the duplicate-title errors that caused.
  • "Report this bug" now files directly on GitHub instead of relaying
through kip-backend — opens this repo's own GitHub issue form prefilled
with your bug description and Kip's version, no backend hop or server-held
    GitHub credential involved.
  • Slide view gets a real fullscreen button — "View as slides" previously
only supported fullscreen via a hidden f shortcut; there's now a visible
button, and the deck actually fills the screen instead of staying capped
    at the sidebar panel's height.

Kip v0.7.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Sep 18:32

Kip v0.7.0

Platform File
Windows 10/11 x64 Kip-Setup-*.exe — run it; per-user install, no admin prompt
Linux x64 (AppImage) Kip-*.AppImage — chmod +x, run it; updates itself
Linux x64 (portable) Kip-*.tar.gz — tar -xzf, run ./kip

  • Peck now runs over a persistent sidecar, not spawn-per-action. The chat
panel used to shell out to scripts/chat.js for every message and poll
.roost/peck-progress.json for progress; it now speaks a versioned
WebSocket protocol to one long-lived Kip sidecar process per open coop.
    • Turns stream live (turn.delta) straight into the answer bubble instead
of arriving as a single blob at the end.
    • Cancel actually aborts a running turn in under a second — the sidecar
now drives a real turn loop instead of a stub that returned
      NOT_IMPLEMENTED.
    • Live tool/skill activity (skill.progress) renders as the turn runs, and
a turn's sources, evidence, "learned" card and rating/arena widgets are
now backed by real tool-output accounting from the sidecar rather than
      best-effort text parsing.
    • Conversation history and follow-up depth are now carried on every turn,
fixing replies that ignored earlier context.
    • The sidecar ships bundled inside the packaged app (<app>/sidecar); a
dropped connection now fails a pending action cleanly instead of hanging.
    • The chat panel warms its own connection as soon as it mounts rather than
on the first message, removing a race that could make the very first
message in a session fail or hang.

Kip v0.6.0

Kip v0.6.0

Platform File
Windows 10/11 x64 Kip-Setup-*.exe — run it; per-user install, no admin prompt
Linux x64 (AppImage) Kip-*.AppImage — chmod +x, run it; updates itself
Linux x64 (portable) Kip-*.tar.gz — tar -xzf, run ./kip

Linux/Wayland: ./kip --ozone-platform-hint=auto.

  • Mindmaps — a new kind of page where the map is the outline. Make one
from the Mindmaps entry in the sidebar (or the whiteboards dashboard). The
page H1 is the central topic and bullets are branches; it stays plain
Markdown, so it syncs, greps, hatches and exports like any other page.
    • Clean auto-laid-out tree renderer with collapse/expand — not a whiteboard.
    • Edit structure on the map: Enter / Tab / Shift+Tab, a toolbar for add /
delete / indent, and drag a topic to re-parent it (cycle-safe).
    • Click the central topic to name the map.
    • Map-wide themes, per-topic colour and shape, TODO / DOING / DONE markers,
a notes side panel, and clickable pasted links — all stored as Markdown
block properties, so they round-trip through the file.
    • New tree — a topic that starts its own tree, unconnected to the
centre. Drag a topic onto empty canvas to detach it, onto another node to
      reconnect it.
    • Flip between the map and the plain outline editor with a header button or
      Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+M.
  • Whiteboards are now off by default. Existing whiteboards are untouched;
turn them back on — and toggle Mindmaps — under Settings → Advanced.

Kip v0.5.5

Kip v0.5.5

Platform File
Windows 10/11 x64 Kip-Setup-*.exe — run it; per-user install, no admin prompt
Linux x64 (AppImage) Kip-*.AppImage — chmod +x, run it; updates itself
Linux x64 (portable) Kip-*.tar.gz — tar -xzf, run ./kip

Linux/Wayland: ./kip --ozone-platform-hint=auto.

  • People panel now lists your people — people-list! called a Node
path.name that doesn't exist, so the read threw and the panel showed
"No people yet" no matter how many person pages were in the nest. (The
0.5.4 frontmatter-parser fix was necessary but not sufficient.)
  • Delete a person from the People panel — each row gets a delete action
behind a confirm; it removes the nest/people/<slug>.md page and its
index entry, and regenerates the nest catalog. [[links]] to the person
    elsewhere are left in place.
  • Follow-up name autocomplete — toggle "Follow-up" in the Tasks panel and
start typing a name: a dropdown suggests people already in your coop
(matched on name + aliases, prefix hits first), with arrow-key / click
    selection.

  • Manual re-hatch — the Hatch modal gains a "Re-hatch already-hatched
sources" toggle that threads --force through, so you can deliberately
re-hatch a source whose trace hub already exists in the nest (kip-app#124).
  • Interaction capture — a local POST /interactions endpoint logs an
interaction (email/call/meeting) onto a person's page, resolving the person
by canonical email and appending to its ## Interactions section
    (kip-app#127).
  • Gmail helper extension — a Chrome extension (separate repo
kip-gmail-extension) logs the sender of an open thread to their person page.
A new /pair endpoint gives it a one-click connection: Kip mints a token
after you approve the request (kip-app#133).
  • "Enable extensions" setting — Settings → Advanced now exposes a friendly
toggle that starts (and autostarts) the local API server, replacing the old
    hidden "HTTP APIs server" switch.
  • Fix: welcome card before a graph — the first-run welcome card no longer
appears on the demo/nil graph, so "Get started" can't point at a graph that
    doesn't exist yet.
