v0.3.0
v0.2.2
v0.2.1
Montagent v0.2.1 Font acquisition and licence evidence, render profiling, and static layer prefix caching. Fonts & evidence: - Explicit font acquisition via URL or Google Fonts: `montagent fonts acquire` (CLI) and `fonts_acquire` (MCP). Returns candidate paths and verified evidence receipts without mutating project files (ADR-0197). - Discover host fonts and licence classifications via `fonts_list` (MCP) and `montagent fonts list` (CLI). - Vendor verified fonts into the project behind the licence gate via `fonts_vendor` (MCP) and `montagent fonts vendor` (CLI). Performance & profiling: - Render profiling: CPU ms per element, type and effect breakdown via `montagent render --profile` and MCP `render` parameter `profile: true` (ADR-0194). - Static layer prefix caching: caches byte-identical bottom layer prefixes across frames to accelerate preview and export rendering (ADR-0195). - Video painter probe bounds: bounded probe frame selection for video painters (ADR-0196). - Wall clock gap tracking in progress file JSON (ADR-0193).
v0.2.0
Montagent v0.2.0
A render can now be watched while it runs, and the audio and path work from
the last few months is in.
Renders report what they are doing
- `render --progress-file <path>` writes a JSON record about once a second
(state, phase, pid, frames done and total, fps, ETA, timeline position).
Each record is replaced atomically, so a reader never sees a torn file.
- A render names its phase: preparing, rendering, finishing.
- The ETA is marked as an estimate, and is null with a stated reason until a
rate exists.
- stderr gets a line at least every ~5 s, including during pre-flight.
- MCP `render` takes the same progress file. See ADR-0192.
Audio
- Audio effects: EQ, dynamics (compressor and limiter), loudness
normalisation, and a master stage with a loudness target and true-peak
ceiling.
- Audio crossfades across a cut, and ducking written as ordinary volume
keyframes by a skill script.
Video and layout
- Paths: a shape path mask, text on a path, stroke trim with a draw-on, dash
patterns, and morphs between unlike shapes.
- Projection: swivel, tilt and perspective on every visual element.
- Preview reads shrunk images through one mip level (ADR-0186).
Platforms
- Windows CI pins a checksummed ffmpeg (ADR-0187).
- Intel macOS is still built and shipped, but its tests no longer run in CI
(ADR-0188).
Install
- cargo install montagent
- or download the archive for your platform below and put `montagent` on PATH.
Six targets: macOS, Linux and Windows, each for x86_64 and aarch64.
Check it against SHA256SUMS.
- You also need ffmpeg 7.1 or newer, built with libx264, on PATH (ADR-0115).
macOS
The two macOS archives carry a binary signed with a Developer ID and notarized
by Apple, done by the release workflow (ADR-0139). Extract it and run it. If
the first run has to happen offline, clear the quarantine flag first:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./montagent
v0.1.2
Montagent v0.1.2
Montagent is now on crates.io, and every release is signed in CI.
Install
- cargo install montagent
- or download the archive for your platform below and put `montagent` on PATH.
Six targets: macOS, Linux and Windows, each for x86_64 and aarch64.
Check it against SHA256SUMS.
- You also need ffmpeg 7.1 or newer, built with libx264, on PATH (ADR-0115).
macOS
The two macOS archives carry a binary signed with a Developer ID and notarized
by Apple, now done by the release workflow itself (ADR-0139). Extract it and
run it: no `xattr` step, and an MCP client can start it directly. The first
run needs an internet connection; if it has to happen offline, clear the
quarantine flag first:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./montagent
v0.1.1
Montagent v0.1.1
macOS binaries are now signed and notarized. Otherwise this is v0.1.0.
macOS
The two macOS archives carry a binary signed with a Developer ID and notarized
by Apple (ADR-0138). Extract it and run it: no `xattr` step, and an MCP client
can start it directly. macOS checks the binary with Apple the first time it
runs, which needs an internet connection; if that first run has to happen
offline, clear the quarantine flag first:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./montagent
Install
- Download the archive for your platform below and put `montagent` on PATH.
Six targets: macOS, Linux and Windows, each for x86_64 and aarch64.
Check it against SHA256SUMS.
- You also need ffmpeg 7.1 or newer, built with libx264, on PATH (ADR-0115).
Not in this release
- crates.io: `cargo install montagent` doesn't work yet.
v0.1.0
Montagent v0.1.0
The first release. Montagent is a video editor whose project format is written
and edited by an AI agent: a single JSON file states what is on screen at every
moment, and Montagent validates it and renders it, deterministically. One binary
is both the CLI and an MCP server.
- Each archive carries LICENSE, THIRD-PARTY.md, and examples/hello-text, a
first project you can render without an MCP client.
macOS: this release is unsigned
macOS quarantines the extracted binary and kills it silently. Before the
first run:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./montagent
Releases after v0.1.0 are signed and notarized (ADR-0138).
Not in this release
- crates.io: `cargo install montagent` doesn't work yet.
