ViGaVault Release 1.3.3

This release introduces powerful new organization tools, significant metadata fixes, and a complete overhaul of the in-app documentation.

Highlights

Automated Batch Folder Renaming

Organizing your local files is now easier than ever. ViGaVault features a new Batch Rename tool that automatically scans your library for legacy game folders that don't match the canonical naming convention (YYYY - Game Name (Platforms)).

  • Includes an interactive Confirmation Dialog so you can review and approve all proposed bulk renames before they happen.
  • The engine safely migrates all associated local media (cover images, video trailers) alongside the renamed folders.
  • The filename generator (get_safe_filename) has been rewritten with a permissive approach, accurately preserving apostrophes, commas, and other valid characters while only stripping strictly forbidden Windows characters.

Completely Modernized Documentation

The in-app HTML documentation has been entirely rewritten and redesigned. It now accurately reflects the current state of ViGaVault, including deep dives into:

  • The Scanner Engine (Platform Integrations, Advanced Folder Rules, IGDB Exact Match Supremacy).
  • The Media Manager and SteamGridDB support.
  • The Conflict Resolver and manual curation tools.
  • Fully localized and translated into all 5 supported languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian).

Metadata & Fixes

  • Strict Release Dates: Fixed a logic flaw where storefronts like GOG were forcibly overwriting a game's Original_Release_Date with the year of its digital re-release. Platform-specific date injection is now disabled, ensuring IGDB acts as the strict, single source of truth for all historical release dates.
  • Media Preservation: Fixed a bug where the local file renaming engine was ignoring local video trailers when moving game assets.

Release Notes v1.3.2

This release brings a massive structural overhaul to the Game Manager, introducing a powerful new 3-pane Game Inspector alongside robust cross-platform unmerge capabilities. We've also performed a deep cleanup of the UI and localization files.

New Features & Enhancements

  • Advanced Game Inspector: Overhauled the Game Manager's bottom inspector into a perfectly symmetrical, fixed-width 3-pane structure (Media, Metadata, Merged Sources). The center metadata pane now expands flexibly to take advantage of widescreen monitors.
  • Intelligent Unmerging & Blacklisting: Added a dedicated 'Merged Sources' unmerge utility inside the new Game Inspector. You can now cleanly disconnect incorrect cross-platform merges (Steam, Epic, Amazon, GOG) with a single click. Unmerged IDs are permanently blacklisted to prevent them from re-merging during future intelligent scans.
  • Merged Tracking: Introduced a new 'Merged' column in the Game Manager table, complete with a top-row alignment filter toggle, allowing you to instantly isolate and identify games built from multiple platform sources.
  • Full Translation Support: The new unmerge interface has been fully localized across all 5 supported languages (EN, FR, DE, ES, IT).

Maintenance & Cleanups

  • Toolbar Refactoring: Cleaned up the Game Manager's top toolbar layout and permanently removed the incorrectly named/unused "Batch Sync" button.
  • Localization Purge: Cleaned up technical debt by purging 35 unused and orphaned translation keys across all language files, reducing the app's footprint and future translation overhead.
  • Documentation: Updated README.md to properly document the new Advanced Game Inspector and Unmerge utility features.

ViGaVault v1.3.0 Release Notes

We are excited to announce version 1.3.0 of ViGaVault! This update brings massive improvements to the Amazon integration pipeline, local file scanning intelligence, and general UI/UX stability.

What's New & Changed

  • Amazon GraphQL Scanner: Integrated a fully headless Prime Gaming & Luna GraphQL scanner directly on the main thread. It features persistent browser sessions and automated title smart-merging under the Amazon platform tag.
  • Amazon Scan Refactoring: Re-engineered the Amazon scan execution pipeline to perform page-reload-free, year-by-year sequential dynamic crawls. Results now render in real-time under a single clean header, while completely silencing all intermediate headless browser progress spam.
  • Universal Injection Casing: Improved local copy injection rules! The scanner now applies deduplication and user-casing overrides universally across Genre, Collection, Publisher, and Developer fields. If you type it in ALL CAPS, it stays in ALL CAPS.
  • Year Filters Upgrade: Enclosed the new Year filter in a styled, non-collapsible container and added "All" and "None" buttons for faster date navigation.
  • SteamGridDB Integration: Added SteamGridDB integration featuring automated API key extraction and an interactive manual cover picker dialog with alternative visual propositions.
  • Amazon Luna Support: Added full support for Amazon Luna with multiple region selections and automated login token captures.
  • Enhanced Logging: Introduced a main-window-integrated Last Scan Log settings viewer, displaying monospace logs with auto-scaled fonts. Standardized all storefront logs to return clean, count-based metrics instead of spamming giant lists.
  • Button Layout Standardization: Standardized all dialog box button layouts globally to keep "Cancel" firmly on the left and "Save/Apply" on the right.
  • Dynamic Backups: Changed backup file name generation to dynamically use the actual current database name.
  • Date & Sorting Upgrades: Standardized the database date schema to YYYY-MM-DD. Furthermore, modifying a game's date or title now triggers an immediate in-memory UI list reflow.

Bug Fixes

  • Case-Sensitive Filtering: Fixed a long-standing issue where alphabetical sorting in UI filters (Sidebar, Game Manager, Metadata Manager) broke when mixing upper-case and lower-case words.
  • Amazon Ghost Deletions: Fixed the Amazon storefront ghost checking logic by swapping from any() to all(). Galaxy-synced prefix patterns are now completely immune to unlinking during scans.
  • Filter Layout Reflow: Resolved disappearing dynamic filter checkboxes during sidebar resizing by dynamically balancing layout column stretches.
  • Scroll-Wheel Errors: Fixed the scroll-wheel unintentionally changing structure types when hovering over dropdowns in the local sources settings tab.
  • Hidden Games Resetting: Fixed an issue where games would return as NEW after being manually set to HIDDEN.
  • Scan Loop Prevention: Excluded NEEDS_ATTENTION games from the automated scrapper queue. They will now only be queried once when added as NEW to prevent infinite network traffic loops.
  • Duplicate Amazon Titles: Implemented a clean UUID extractor (get_clean_amazon_id) to successfully unify dot-prefixed cloud IDs with database GOG Galaxy formats, preventing Amazon clones from populating.
  • Scan Panel Cleanup: Removed the rogue "Go Wild" checkbox from the full intelligent scan panel.

ViGaVault v1.2.0 (Stable Release)

This marks the first official stable milestone of the modernized ViGaVault desktop engine. I know, I skipped some version numbers, but I made so much changes it needed to be done.

This release delivers massive architectural upgrades to security, data portability, authentication, and user experience, while introducing strict parity with the upcoming Android Mobile application.

Security & Architecture

  • Zero-Trust Encrypted Backups: Removed the legacy CSV architecture and introduced the new .vgv format. Backups are now highly-compressed, AES-256 encrypted archives containing your database, library settings, and native image assets.
  • Test-Driven Stability: Integrated a global pytest and pytest-qt sandbox framework to automatically verify core UI and data stability across builds.
  • Mobile-Parity Core: All Python configuration dictionaries have been aggressively refactored to strict camelCase schemas (e.g., scanSteam) to guarantee flawless cross-import functionality with the new Android version (soon to be released).

Steam Modernization

  • Embedded Browser Auth: The application now features an embedded Qt WebEngine browser window, allowing you to natively and securely log into Steam while fully supporting CAPTCHAs and Steam Guard 2FA.
  • Silent API Key Extraction: Once you are authenticated, a background "ghost script" automatically intercepts and extracts your official Steam Web API Key directly from the session, permanently eliminating the need to manually hunt for and copy-paste API keys.

UI/UX Enhancements

  • Game & Media Manager Edit Buttons: Injected inline Edit buttons directly into the Game Manager and Media Manager tables. You can pull up the master Edit Dialog without leaving the list, and your changes will instantly refresh the UI rows upon exit.
  • New Asset Filters: Added mutually exclusive "No Image" and "No Trailer" toggles directly to the main sidebar and Media Manager, allowing you to quickly isolate games missing metadata.
  • Hidden Games Toggle: Added a dedicated "Hidden" toggle to the Game Manager to safely isolate exclusions and DLCs.
  • Global Translations: Unified all new toggles, alerts, and columns into the core multi-language engine (en, fr, de, es, it).

Bug Fixes & Engine Upgrades

  • Smart IGDB Recovery: The metadata scraper will now intelligently strip the word "remake" from failed API searches and automatically retry, guaranteeing you never miss a match on modern remakes.
  • Modern WebP Support: Fixed an oversight in the backup compressor that ignored .webp and other modern image formats. The backup engine now reliably archives all contents of your images directory.
  • Qt File Dialog Crash: Hard-patched a severe Windows Native File Dialog crashing issue by permanently binding to Qt's internal file explorer.
  • Instant Cover Renders: Fixed a bug where manually uploaded local covers wouldn't immediately trigger a re-render on the active Game Card.
