What's New

Removed

  • The winget package: winget/Mai-kun.Clippy.yaml manifests and the winget-pkgs submission step were removed from the release workflow. winget install Mai-kun.Clippy is no longer supported — use the installer or the zip instead.

Added

  • English README (README.md) and a Russian translation (README_RU.md) with a language toggle.
  • Issue templates: bug report and feature request.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md — a guide for contributors.

Changed

  • License headers in the sources shortened to the SPDX form.
  • Version bumped to v1.4.0.

Note: the notification sound (v1.3.7), the game overlay card, game-monitor placement, Per-Monitor DPI V2, and clip_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss.mp4 clip names (v1.3.8) shipped in earlier releases.

Clippy v1.3.8

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 18:53

Installation Options

  • Installer (Clippy-Setup.exe): Recommended. Installs Clippy with desktop/start menu shortcuts, autostart support, and silent one-click updates.
  • Portable archive (Clippy-win-x64.zip): Standalone zero-install folder. Extract anywhere and launch Clippy.exe.

Hotkeys: F8 — 30 seconds, F9 — 3 minutes.
Clips go to clips/, debug logs to logs/.

What's New

Added

  • A Medal / ShadowPlay-style game notification card: it never steals focus or catches clicks, fades in smoothly, and disappears after a couple of seconds. Switch the style via the NotificationType setting (overlay / windows_toast / none) or from the tray.
  • The card is placed on the game's own monitor via MonitorFromWindow(GetForegroundWindow()) and scales with Per-Monitor DPI V2 (WM_DPICHANGED) — correct on monitors with different scaling.
  • The saved file's size is shown in the notification.
  • ISO-style clip names: clip_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss.mp4.

Changed

  • Neutral #3D3D3D card border and overall visual balance polish.
  • English UI localization, duration rounding.
  • The Windows system "chime" is silenced — only Clippy's built-in sound plays.
