Atomic Bombs
There are two bombs you place in the world: Little Man and Fat Man. Both lie flat on the ground like real bombs, and both need to be filled and armed before they go off.
If you want to drop a nuke on something far away, you need a missile instead. See Missiles.
| Bomb | Size | Crater radius | Blast zone | Fallout zone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Little Man | 3 long, 1 high | 72 blocks | 144 blocks | 288 blocks |
| Fat Man | 3 long, 2 high | 160 blocks, down to bedrock | 320 blocks | 640 blocks |
The numbers are the defaults and can be changed in the config. See Commands and Config.
Fat Man is crafted from a Little Man, so you always build a Little Man first.
- Place the bomb. The nose points the way you're facing.
- Right-click it to open the bomb screen.
- Put 4 Graphite Plates into the implosion sphere (the tamper around the core).
- Put the Plutonium Core in the middle.
- Put a Battery into the firing circuit.
- Hold your finger on the scanner to authorize. This removes the safety and the bomb shows ARMED.
You can't arm it until every part is in. The screen tells you what's missing. To make it safe again, scan once more.
The bomb remembers who armed it, which is handy on servers.
There are two ways, and both only work while the bomb is armed:
- Detonator: right-click the bomb with it to link, then right-click into the air to fire. The chunk with the bomb has to be loaded and in the same dimension, otherwise you get "No signal".
- Redstone: any redstone signal on the bomb sets it off.
The Multi Detonator links up to 8 bombs or launch pads. Right-click each one to add it (right-click again to remove), then right-click into the air to fire all of them at once.
Detonators also work on launch pads. See Launch Pads.
If you break a bomb before it goes off, you get the parts back. When it detonates, all parts are used up.
That's a page of its own: Nuclear Explosions. Short version: get far away, don't look at it, and be inside something solid.
