Example prompts

Ask in plain words, and the agent picks the tools. Here is what a few questions look like from the inside, with the group each one needs. The answers are shortened.

“Why is the server lagging?” (viewer)

The agent calls get_server_status with detail for TPS and tick times, then get_entity_summary for the entity counts and the busiest chunks, and list_chunks to see what loads them.

TPS dropped to 14. Most of the tick goes to the overworld: chunk −12, 40 holds 840 item entities and 96 chickens, next to Alex's farm. Clearing the items or slowing the farm should help. Want me to remove the dropped items there?

“What did the log say before the crash?” (moderator)

The agent calls list_files on logs/ to find the last session's log. Then it calls read_file on it with grep ERROR|Exception and a few lines of context, or with tail 200 for the very end.

The log from 18 October ends at 21:47 with java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, thrown while saving chunks. Ten minutes earlier the server warned “Can't keep up!” four times. The server likely needs more memory, or a lower view distance.

“Raise the view distance to 12.” (owner)

The agent calls read_file on server.properties to see the current value and its sha256. Then it calls set_config_values with { "view-distance": 12 } and that sha256, so the write fails if someone changed the file meanwhile. Your client asks you to confirm first, since the tool changes a file.

Done: view-distance is 12 instead of 10, and the previous file is in WorldAPI's backups. The server reads it only at start, so it takes effect after a restart. Restart in five minutes with a warning?

“Restart the server in ten minutes and warn everyone.” (admin)

The agent calls restart_server with countdownSeconds 600 and a message. Players see warnings in chat as the time runs down, and then the server saves every world and stops. Docker's restart policy or your start script brings it back.

The restart is set for 21:30, and everyone online got the first warning. Say “cancel the restart” to call it off.

“I'm new here. Where am I, and what should I do first?” (viewer, with WORLDAPI_PLAYER)

The agent calls get_player for your position and inventory, get_world for the time, get_biome where you stand, and locate for the nearest village.

You're in a birch forest at 210, 71, −340, and night falls in four minutes. You have a wooden axe and six apples. The nearest village is 300 blocks east. Get wood and build a shelter before dark.

More to try

  • “Who's online and where are they?”
  • “Who played the most this week, and who died the most?”
  • “Someone blew up my house near spawn. What happened?”
  • “Which of my chests holds diamonds?”
  • “What's the best sword in my chest?”
  • “Set it to morning, clear the weather, and tell everyone the event starts in five minutes.”
  • “Tell me when Steve joins.”

Next: Security.
