Adding a language

Pavel Erokhin edited this page Oct 19, 2026 · 1 revision

English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, and German come bundled. Here is how to add Italian.

  1. Copy plugins/MoJoins/lang/en.yml to plugins/MoJoins/lang/it.yml.

  2. Translate the texts. Keep the keys and the placeholders like <player> as they are.

  3. Add a line to locales.countries in config.yml, so Italian players get it by IP:

    locales:
      countries:
it: [ IT, SM, VA ]
  4. Run /mojoins reload.

Players whose game is set to Italian get it too, even from a country that isn’t listed. /mojoins language now lists Italian under its code, it.

Good to know

  • A key missing from a language file comes from the bundled text of that language, then from locales.default, then from English. You can keep only the lines you change.
  • An empty string turns a message off for that language: quit: "" drops quit lines for its readers.
  • A file name sets the code: pt_br.yml is pt_br, and a player with a Brazilian game gets it before pt.yml.
  • To make Italian the language for everyone nothing else matches, set locales.default: it.
