Since 1.04. No game data is included in any package: you need your own Xbox disc. To update a PC install, replace the program (and, on Linux, lib/) and keep data/ and config/.

Android

The game now runs on Android phones: arm64, Android 8.0 or newer, with Vulkan. It is compiled for arm64, not emulated.

  1. Download sf33rdsxb-android-arm64.apk on the phone and open it; allow installs from that source when Android asks. If you installed one of the Android test builds, uninstall it first: 1.1 is signed with the release key, and Android will not install it over a test build (uninstalling removes the imported game, so import it again).
  2. Open 3rd Strike, tap the screen, and pick your Xbox disc: an .iso, .zip or .7z. It is imported into the app's own storage.
  3. Play with the on-screen controls (the d-pad on the left, X Y WH over A B BK on the right, BACK and START at the top) or a USB or Bluetooth gamepad.

On a phone, OPTION → SCREEN ADJUST has ORIENTATION (landscape or portrait, held whichever way the phone is turned) and TOUCH PAD (the on-screen controls on or off). The game fills the screen, and keeps its shape when you switch apps and come back. If it ever stops, the next start shows why, and Copy log puts the log on the clipboard.

Fixes on every platform

  • A memory overrun at the CAPCOM logo. A few of the game's buffers that the port does not implement yet were 64 KB placeholders, smaller than what the game writes into them (the VS screen's voice, 199 KB, among them). The overrun wrote over other data; on PC it happened to land somewhere harmless. The buffers now have their real size, which changes the attract demo's fights after the first few (they were running on corrupted data).
  • The title logo placement no longer depends on how the processor converts a negative number (it was shifted on arm64).
  • An error that stops the game now says why in a dialog.

Windows (64-bit Windows 10 or 11)

  1. Download sf33rdsxb-windows-x86_64.zip and unzip the whole folder somewhere you can write to, such as Documents or the Desktop. Not Program Files: the game keeps its data and saves next to the exe.
  2. Run sf33rdsxb.exe. The program is not signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. The first time, pick your Xbox disc in the window that opens.

It needs a graphics driver with Vulkan or OpenGL 3.3. The DLLs it uses are in the folder.

Linux (glibc 2.39 or newer: Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 40 or later)

  1. Install OpenAL, libarchive and the Vulkan loader:
    • Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install libopenal1 libarchive13t64 libvulkan1
    • Fedora: sudo dnf install openal-soft libarchive vulkan-loader
    • Arch: sudo pacman -S openal libarchive vulkan-icd-loader
  2. Unpack sf33rdsxb-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and run ./sf33rdsxb. SDL3 is included.
