v0.1.1
Install or upgrade:
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -Lo ~/.local/bin/lowpaper https://github.com/Meinianda-L/lowpaper/releases/latest/download/lowpaper
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/lowpaperFrom this version on, lowpaper update does the same.
New
lowpaper updateinstalls the latest release over the script and restarts a running wallpaper with it.lowpaper version.- Monitor hotplug: adding, removing or resizing a monitor lays the wallpaper out again by itself, on X11 (RandR, through
xev) and on Wayland. - mpv's warnings and errors go to a log per monitor;
lowpaper statusnames it when a player has stopped.
Fixed
- A wrong
-oname no longer stops the running wallpaper or overwrites the saved settings. - The Wayland helper is rebuilt when its source changes, instead of an old build being reused.
- The Wayland helper also builds against libmpv 1, for older distributions.
- When neither Xv nor OpenGL works, X11 falls back to mpv's plain x11 output instead of showing nothing.
- Two lay-outs could run at once after a monitor change and leave a stray watcher behind.
Project
- CI runs shellcheck and smoke tests on headless Sway and a dummy Xorg server, including monitor hotplug.
- Install notes for Arch and Fedora. AUR package files are in
packaging/aur.
v0.1.0
First release.
Video wallpaper for Linux on X11 and Wayland, in one file.
Install:
sudo apt install mpv
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -Lo ~/.local/bin/lowpaper https://github.com/Meinianda-L/lowpaper-live-wallpaper/releases/latest/download/lowpaper
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/lowpaper- X11 (XFCE, MATE, Cinnamon): mpv draws into a desktop window; desktop icons stay above the video on XFCE.
- Wayland (Sway, Hyprland, KDE): a small built-in layer-shell helper, compiled once with gcc. mpvpaper is no longer needed.
- Short clips are decoded once and replayed from RAM.
- Pauses when the wallpaper is covered, at 0% CPU.
