v0.8.0

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 10 Aug 09:16

Client-side tracker for Hypixel SkyBlock's Critter Safari, for Minecraft 26.1.2.

Requires Fabric Loader 0.19+, Fabric API, fabric-language-kotlin and Java 25. MoulConfig is bundled; Mod Menu is optional.

Features

Tracking

  • Per-run counters: unique and total, yours and the party's, globally and per biome
  • Per-player breakdown of who has caught what
  • Species that spawn a fixed number of times tracked to their quota, not just the first catch
  • Capsule throws counted, so "keeps escaping" reads differently from "not found yet"
  • Species a run can no longer produce marked as such
  • Runs saved to disk when the next one starts
  • History tab: every saved run, with length, dex and catches
  • Stats tab: totals per species across every run, time played, catches a run, full-dex runs
  • Log replay: reconstruct past runs from chat logs, in game or offline

On screen

  • Progress panel: run timer, party and personal dex bars, a bar per biome
  • Missing panel: what is still uncaught in the biome you are standing in
  • Hunter trade box: the offers found this run, nearest first
  • Hotspot line: which biome the run made yours
  • Counts of Snooper walls, Troodon walls, bee nests and Rockmite mounds left
  • Nearby spawn counts, optional
  • Every box movable, resizable and scaleable, with a drag-to-place editor
  • Shown only in the Safari, in the Safari and its entrance, or everywhere

Marks in the world — each separately toggleable, all off by default

  • Snooper walls, in the Cavern
  • Troodon walls, in the Icy biome
  • Bee nests you have not punched, in the Forest
  • Rockmite mounds, in the Cavern
  • The eight Hideonwall perches, in the Haunted biome
  • Hunter trade spots
  • Floor drops — nothing, a highlight, or a full waypoint
  • Recatch spots: where a critter was when you threw at it
  • Bloodbat boxes, on by default
  • A colour picker per kind, with alpha and chroma

Alerts

  • Gemzie, Wumpa and Doomspiral tracked ready → started → done, each settable on its own
  • Encounter calls kept to the biome they are in
  • Biome complete, everything except Macaw, everything done
  • Macaw spawns, full-screen — and the Bluebird and Parakeet too, optionally
  • Sparkling critters, full-screen
  • Hunter trade offers, with the biome and coordinates
  • Your Hunting Hotspot
  • Sound, off by default

Party

  • Every announcement chooses its own audience: nobody, party chat or all chat
  • The missing list, copied to the clipboard or posted to chat
  • Trades announced by other people running this mod read straight into your tracker

Other

  • Settings GUI built with MoulConfig, reachable from Mod Menu
  • Warden darkness removed while at the Safari, optional

v0.7.4 — Hideonwall perches, every bird, biome-local calls

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 09 Aug 23:52

For Minecraft 26.1.2. The 26.2 port is on the 26.2 branch, still untested.

Hideonwall perches

The eight places a Hideonwall turns up, marked while you are in the Haunted biome. Off by default like every other mark, with its own colour.

Every bird at the Birdfeeder

The Birdfeeder attracts three species, and only the Macaw was ever called. The species is now read out of the line rather than the line being searched for one word, so all three land, each in its own rarity's colour.

The Bluebird and Parakeet are behind a new setting, off by default

Encounter calls stay in their biome

On by default. party ready/done alerts only when in a certain biome

It fails open: when the biome cannot be worked out, the call still fires, because silence on a "cannot tell" is indistinguishable from the mod being broken. /critters testalert lifts the gate so it still shows all three wherever it is run.

Also

The Macaw call is full-screen now, in the Macaw's own orange, rather than the banner strip the encounter stages share.

v0.7.3 — text matched too loosely, in three places

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 09 Aug 19:16

For Minecraft 26.1.2, which is the primary line again — the repository default branch is now 26.1.2. The 26.2 port lives on the 26.2 branch and is still untested.

Three bugs, one habit: asking whether text contains a phrase rather than whether it is that phrase.

The entrance counted as the Safari

"Entry To Critter Safari", over in Torrhus Canyon, contains "Safari" — so the entrance passed as being at the Safari and put the overlays up there.

Location now answers with one of three places, and the entrance is told apart two ways at once: its name says so, and its position falls nowhere near the mapped Safari areas, being on another island entirely. A name that claims Safari from off the map reads as the entrance rather than as inside, which is the cautious way round.

Which of the three shows the display is now yours to pick — Show where: Only in the Safari, Safari and entrance, Everywhere. It defaults to Safari and entrance, which is what it did before, and it governs the panels and the in-world marks together.

A quoted message set the mod off

The hotspot watcher searched the whole line for its sentence, so a partymate pasting theirs into party chat set your hotspot and made your client announce a second one — which theirs could then read back in turn.

Anything a player can type, a player can quote. Lines a player said are now told apart from lines the game sent, and only the shared-trade reader — which is looking for this mod's own announcement — sees them. The hotspot, Macaw and Hideyho watchers are anchored to the start of the line as well.

The capsule got highlighted

A capsule mid-capture carries the critter's name, so it arrived as a sighting of that species and the recatch pin could land on the ball instead of the spot the critter returns to. A real critter has a mob under its name tag; the capsule has nothing, and the pin now requires one.

Also

The Macaw call is full-screen now, in the Macaw's own orange, rather than the banner strip the encounter stages share. Same setting, still on by default — louder, not noisier.

v0.7.2 — the run resets again, sparkling call, hotspots

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 08 Aug 20:33

Two jars, same release, one per Minecraft version:

Jar Minecraft State
crittermod-0.7.2+mc26.1.2.jar 26.1.2 Tested
crittermod-0.7.2+mc26.2-untested.jar 26.2 Never run in game

The 26.2 build is the same code ported, not a new feature set. It compiles and packages, but the development instance is on 26.1.2 so nothing in it has rendered a frame — report what breaks. MultiBufferSource is gone in 26.2, so the waypoints were rewritten onto the submit-node collector; if something crashes, that is where to look first. Branches are split: 26.1.2 and 26.2.

The run resets again

A tester's log had it outright: the entry banner names whoever warped the party in, not each member. The parser only raised an entry event when it named the local player, so a player who was not the one leading never opened a run — the previous run stayed live, the "open one on the first catch" fallback never fired because a run was already open, and every catch landed in the run before it. Every time, for anyone not leading the warp.

Runs now open on arriving at the Safari after being away, whoever was named and whether or not the banner survived any chat filters, and close on the island change. The panel reads 0/37 on the way in rather than at the first catch.

/critters debug reports which trigger opened the live run.

Sparkling call

A full-screen alert when a sparkling critter is loaded near you, with its biome and coordinates, and a party post on the usual nobody/party/all choice. Read off the name tag for now.

Hunting Hotspot

Hypixel names one about eight seconds into a run, and everyone in the party is given a different one, told only to their own client — so it is worth saying out loud. A line on the progress panel, a chat report, and an audience setting of its own.

Also

  • Floor drops are marked only for the biome you are standing in.
  • Runs are saved to config/crittermod-runs.json; History and Stats tabs on the run screen. /critters import fills them from your existing logs.
  • Mod Menu shows the mod's icon.

v0.7.1 — Hunting Hotspot, and an icon

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 08 Aug 17:45

Hunting Hotspot

Hypixel names one about eight seconds into a run — HOTSPOT! Your Hunting Hotspot is the Icy Biome! — and everyone in the party is given a different one, told only to their own client. That makes it worth saying out loud: four people splitting the island have four hotspots between them and no way to compare them.

  • A line on the progress panel, coloured as that biome is (Display → Hotspot line)
  • A chat report (Alerts → Hotspot)
  • Posted to nobody, party chat or all chat, defaulting to party (Party → Your hotspot)

/critters testalert fires one, so the wording can be checked without waiting for a run.

Floor drops stay in your biome

Drops turn up in every biome, so each one is now gated on its own position rather than the feature being gated wholesale — standing near a border used to mark drops on the far side of it. A drop the area map cannot place is left out rather than guessed at.

Mod Menu icon

The jar now carries the same icon the Modrinth listing uses, so the mod list shows it instead of the default block.

v0.7.0 — saved runs, stats, recatch helper

Choose a tag to compare

@MrCloudy2 MrCloudy2 released this 08 Aug 16:31

Runs are kept

A finished run is written to config/crittermod-runs.json the moment the next one starts — which is exactly when it stops being the run /ct shows. The run screen gains two tabs beside the existing one:

  • History — saved runs newest first: when, how long, party and personal dex, catches.
  • Stats — every species with its total across those runs and how many runs it turned up in, over a summary of time played, catches a run, full-dex runs and species never caught.

/critters import fills the history from the logs already on disk, matched on start time so running it twice changes nothing. On the development instance that read 56 runs, 3862 catches and 754 minutes of play out of existing logs.

Recatch helper (off by default)

A throw takes the critter out of the world and puts the CAPTURING ball off to one side; if the capture fails it comes back to the spot it left from and starts running again. The spot is pinned the moment the throw lands, at the critter's own size, so the next capsule can be in the air before it is. When several of a species are in view the pin goes on the one nearest the line you were looking along.

It only pins what actually comes back: not the 18 commons, which are caught on the throw, and not Hideyho, Wumpa, Doomspiral or the Snoozle.

Floor drops (off by default)

Skyblocker's test unchanged — three string item displays in one block — with a three-way setting: nothing, a depth-tested highlight, or a full waypoint.

Macaw call, and shared trades

A Macaw spawn is announced from the Birdfeeder's own line or from one appearing in the world, with its position. And a Hunter trade announced by a partymate running this mod is now read back off party chat into your own tracker and waypoint, instead of you reading coordinates out of chat.

Alerts and announcements, split up

Each encounter has its own banner setting, and every automatic announcement chooses its own audience: nobody, party chat or all chat. That covers the three encounters, the completions, Macaw spawns and Hunter trades. /critters share keeps its own channel, since sharing by hand is a different act. Alert sounds are off by default.

Also

  • Eight colour pickers, one per kind of mark, with alpha and chroma.
  • The run timer counts seconds instead of jumping between catches.
  • The Hideyho mark survives the entity unloading, so one pass within range holds it for the round.
  • Columns are sized from the longest species name, so nothing clips.
