Love Menu Launcher
LoveMenu-<version>.exe is the whole install: the plugin DLL is embedded inside it.
Each time you run it, it does these steps in order:
- Finds the game. See Finding the game below.
-
Installs BepInEx 5 if it is missing. BepInEx 5.4.23.5 (x64) is built
into the exe as the official release zip. The launcher asks first, then
extracts it next to
Curio.exe. An existing install is left alone. -
Archives logs. Unity keeps only the current and previous
Player.log. The launcher copies both intoLogs\with a timestamp, so older sessions are not lost. - Closes the game if it is running, and waits for it to exit fully. Relaunching too soon makes Steam fail silently.
-
Installs the plugin to
BepInEx\plugins\FlyMod.dll, only if the file differs from the embedded one. -
Writes a launch marker,
BepInEx\LoveMenu.launch. -
Starts the game through Steam (
steam://run/2692440). -
Shows the live BepInEx log in its window, coloured by severity, and
appends it to
Logs\bepinex_history.log.
Keep the launcher window open while you play if you want the log. Closing it does not close the game.
The launcher looks for the folder that contains Curio.exe, in this order,
and uses the first match:
- the
--game-diroption, if you passed one - the path saved from an earlier run, in
LoveMenu.gamedir.txtnext to the exe - the running game, if Lovecraft is already open
- Steam's own records: every library in
steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf, using the game'sappmanifest_2692440.acf. Steam is found through the registry, both per-user and machine-wide. - the Windows "Apps & features" entry Steam creates for the game
- common library folders on every drive, such as
D:\SteamLibraryandC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
If none of these works, the launcher asks you:
- press Enter to open a file picker and select
Curio.exe, or - paste a folder path, or
- type Q to quit.
You can give the Application folder, the LoveCraft folder above it, or
Curio.exe itself. The launcher saves your answer, so it asks only once.
Create a shortcut to the exe and add the option to its Target:
"C:\Tools\LoveMenu-1.0.1.exe" --game-dir "E:\Games\LoveCraft\Application"
The launcher saves that path too. Other options:
| Option | Does |
|---|---|
--game-dir <path> |
use this game folder and save it |
--reset-path |
forget the saved folder and search again |
--find-game |
print the folder it would use, then exit without launching |
--setup-only |
install BepInEx and the plugin, then exit without launching |
--yes |
install BepInEx without asking |
The plugin looks for BepInEx\LoveMenu.launch when the game starts:
- present and less than 5 minutes old: the menu activates
- missing or older: the menu stays inactive for this session
The plugin deletes the file either way, so the next plain Steam launch starts the game without the menu.
