Love Menu Troubleshooting
- Did you start the game with
LoveMenu-<version>.exe? A Steam launch leaves the menu inactive by design. The BepInEx log then saysNot started from the Love Menu launcher - staying inactive. - Did the game take more than 5 minutes to start after the launcher ran? The launch marker expires. Run the launcher again.
- Check you rebound the menu key in Settings.
You answered no when the launcher offered to install BepInEx, or the install failed. Run the launcher again and press Enter at the question. If it says "BepInEx install failed", close the game and check that the game folder is not read-only. See Installation.
When the launcher asks, press Enter and select Curio.exe in the file picker,
or paste the game folder. You can also start it with
--game-dir "<folder>". See
Finding the game.
Run it once with --reset-path to search again, or with
--game-dir "<folder>" to set the folder yourself. Run it with
--find-game to see which folder it picks, without starting the game.
The game was probably still running and locking the DLL. Close the game fully
(check Task Manager for Curio.exe) and run the launcher again.
Steam must be running and signed in. If the game was just closed, wait a few seconds: a relaunch too soon after exit can fail silently.
Clicking inside the black BepInEx console window starts a text selection, and Windows pauses everything written to that window until the selection ends. The game writes its log there, so it freezes. Press Esc or right-click the console to unfreeze it.
From 1.1.1, the menu turns this off when you start the game with the
launcher. For a plain Steam launch, set Enabled = false under
[Logging.Console] in BepInEx\config\BepInEx.cfg to hide the console.
-
Logs\next to the launcher has the Unity player logs from each session. -
Logs\bepinex_history.loghas every BepInEx log line across sessions. -
BepInEx\CrashDumps\in the game folder has.dmpfiles written when the game hung.
