Support limitations

• XLSX presentation pages omit charts/drawings and shared-string run formatting; formulas use stored results and are not recalculated. Macros are not executed. Native Quick Look fidelity depends on the system provider.
• Markdown parses in the background and virtualizes blocks; a single very large block still depends on toolkit layout. Diagram caching is process-local. The cross-reader scheduler and further incremental parsing remain future work.
• Native Liquid Glass requires macOS 26 and a supporting SDK; older systems use visual-effect materials. GPUI toolbars use themed translucency. Image previews may use scaled decoding rather than tiled original-resolution decoding.
• Interactive UI behavior and Intel hardware have not been smoke-tested. Existing Git/diff boundaries are unchanged.

Validation and installation

• Local formatting, workspace/all-target Clippy, locked builds and package/signature checks passed. Targeted diagnostics covered the reported workbook and diagram pipeline. Release CI passed workspace tests, release Clippy and native updater checks on Apple Silicon, plus verified packaging on Apple Silicon and Intel.

Support limitations

• Git/diff boundaries are unchanged and deferred to a separate iteration.
• XLSX uses a sparse cell index, not an Excel layout; no formula recalculation, macros or complete chart/style reproduction. XLS and unsupported workbook structures use macOS Quick Look.
• Large/complex projections can use complete source fallbacks. Image previews can be scaled within working-memory budgets; actual-size zoom is not tiled original-resolution decoding. Native framework allocations, SQLite expressions and ZIP directory indexing remain platform/library constraints.
• HTML uses WebKit and a private local-resource scheme; backend/secure-origin/browser-extension requirements may need a development server or browser. Ordinary non-UTF-8 text remains unsupported; supported ebook legacy encodings are decoded separately.
• Interactive UI, media playback and Intel hardware behavior have not been smoke-tested.

• Start now lists up to 30 recent folder workspaces. Restore their ordered folders in a new window, or switch to an existing window when that workspace is already open. The current workspace is hidden, and repeated clicks reuse a window while it is still loading.
• Add an “Open New Workspace” button. Move the Start heading and actions upward, align the recent list directly below, and allow page scrolling and button wrapping in small windows.

• Introduce a compact grayscale workbench with direct document tabs, centered workspace search, unified icon controls, and Glim / File / View menus. Align the macOS window buttons with the title-bar controls and leave more space before the Glim brand. Sidebar navigation contains Start and Files; Settings is available from Glim → Settings or ⌘,. Git navigation is temporarily hidden.
• Make the sidebar proportional: 20% of the window by default, double-click to reset, drag left below 120px to collapse, and drag right up to 50%. Center the Start page within the content area as the sidebar changes.

• Accelerate large standalone PNG previews with macOS ImageIO using a captured-file snapshot, and show loading feedback immediately. Preserve source files and the existing 4,000px standalone preview limit.
• Bound inline static-image previews to a 2,048px longest edge. Improve streaming GIF composition, use absolute playback deadlines and two bounded lookahead batches (up to three frames / 16 MiB each), release old textures and suspend hidden animations. GIF display previews are bounded to a 2,048px longest edge while compositing uses the original source resolution.

Support and limitations

• macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel only. Ordinary UTF-8 files retain basic editing and automatic/manual saving; diffs, images and unsupported files remain read-only. Source files are not resized or rewritten by image previewing.
• Local image input remains limited to 128 MiB, static source images to 100 megapixels, and GIF compositing retains its existing 512 MiB canvas budget. Preview scaling can reduce detail at high zoom; GIF buffering is bounded per animation, not by the number of animations in a document. Remote images require network access.
• Adding an application language requires a complete matching catalog; third-party component controls retain their library's own language support. Technical diagnostics, file content, paths and application/format names are not translated.
• Real Intel hardware and complete manual UI/GIF performance smoke tests were not performed for this release; no measured smoothness or memory-peak guarantee is claimed.

Validation

• Code review completed with fixes for theme initialization, stale asynchronous file-tree selection, untranslated close tooltips, and regression fixtures.
• Local cargo fmt --all --check, cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings, cargo test --workspace --locked (96 tests), cargo build --locked, and the 336-message English/Chinese catalog check passed.
• Release CI validates updater-enabled ARM formatting, strict Clippy, tests and native updater checks; builds Apple Silicon and Intel DMGs; verifies bundle identity, architecture, signatures and checksums; signs and verifies both update feeds and checks uploaded assets by downloading them again before publication.

Installation

• Choose Glim-0.2.0-macos-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon or Glim-0.2.0-macos-x86_64.dmg for Intel, then drag Glim.app to Applications.

支持范围与限制

• 仅支持 macOS 11 及以上的 Apple Silicon 和 Intel Mac。普通 UTF-8 文件保留基础编辑和自动／手动保存；差异、图片及不支持的文件保持只读。图片预览不会缩放或改写原文件。
• 本地图片输入仍限制为 128 MiB，静态源图片不超过 1 亿像素，GIF 合成保留现有 512 MiB 画布预算。预览缩放可能降低高倍放大的细节；GIF 缓冲上限按单个动画计算，不限制文档中的动画数量。远程图片需要网络。
• 新增应用语言需提供键集一致的完整翻译文件；第三方组件内部控件继续使用组件库自身的语言支持。技术诊断、文件正文、路径和应用／格式名称不翻译。

Changes

• Play GIFs at their original resolution with sequential background decoding and bounded compositing buffers, keeping one displayed frame and at most one prefetched frame. Remove the 2,000-frame cap and the cumulative decoded-animation size rejection. Preserve transparency, disposal, frame timing and finite/infinite looping.
• Use the same streaming player for local and remote .gif image URLs in Markdown/HTML. Share players across duplicate references, release old textures, pause decoding in hidden tabs or source-only previews, and cancel playback when closed.
• Load GitHub repository image links correctly by converting blob/raw page URLs to raw assets. If the raw host fails, fall back to the GitHub Contents API with a shared 20-second network deadline and a 16 MiB response limit.

Support and limitations

• macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel only. Local image input remains limited to 128 MiB; GIF canvas buffers retain a 512 MiB playback budget. Embedded streaming applies to image URL paths ending in .gif. Remote images require network access; the unauthenticated GitHub API fallback is rate-limited.
• End-to-end GIF playback, remote-image rendering and real Intel hardware interactions have not been manually smoke-tested for this release.

Validation

• Local cargo fmt --all --check, strict workspace Clippy, workspace tests and cargo build --locked passed (93 tests).
• Release CI validates updater-enabled ARM formatting/Clippy/tests and native updater checks, builds both Mac architectures, verifies package identity/architecture/signatures/checksums, and signs and verifies both update feeds and uploaded asset roundtrips before publication.

Installation

• Choose Glim-0.1.18-macos-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon or Glim-0.1.18-macos-x86_64.dmg for Intel, then drag Glim.app to Applications.
• Packages are ad-hoc signed, without Apple Developer ID signing or notarization. If Gatekeeper blocks first launch, open once and use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Do not disable system security.
• Existing updater-enabled installations (0.1.12+) can use Check for Updates. Version 0.1.11 and earlier need one manual installation. SHA-256 files and signed architecture-specific appcasts are included.

Glim 0.1.17 completes the Mac-only cleanup and improves release efficiency.

• Markdown/HTML previews use natural content height so the last chart or image remains reachable at the bottom of a document.
• Remove Windows update/install services, platform branches, static-CRT configuration and dedicated dependencies. Remove obsolete screenshot, download-button and preview-icon assets and retired Windows scripts. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs remain the supported targets; historical published assets are retained.
• Reuse the optimized release profile and architecture caches, avoid duplicate main/tag builds, and record executable-build and DMG-packaging time in CI summaries. DMGs use compression level 6 to reduce packaging CPU time with a small size tradeoff.

Local formatting, Clippy, 88 workspace tests and the build passed before release preparation. CI runs formatting, release Clippy, tests and native updater checks on Apple Silicon, and builds/packages both architectures. Glim now focuses on macOS, with maintained releases for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

• Explorer filename tooltips appear only when the name is clipped, and adapt as the sidebar width changes.
• The homepage uses a refreshed Glim banner and an evergreen latest-release download entry. Documentation, app descriptions and keyboard help consistently describe the Mac experience.
• Windows maintenance, CI, packaging and new update-feed publication are paused. Existing Windows releases remain available in the release history. This release contains only two Mac installers, their SHA-256 files and signed update feeds.

Both Mac architectures passed formatting, Clippy, workspace tests, builds and updater integration checks. Filename tooltip behavior was smoke-tested on macOS; the simplified keyboard-help window has not been separately smoke-tested. Intel graphical interactions have not been verified on physical Intel hardware.

• Enjoy a centered paper page, serif/sans-serif fonts, adjustable font size, line spacing and page width, plus keyboard paging and chapter navigation.
• Save bookmarks, reading position and typography settings automatically; reopening a book resumes reading.
• Improve Markdown image handling and inspect native executable metadata without executing files.

EPUB content is reflowed into Glim's reading layout; publisher CSS and fixed-layout reproduction are not supported. DRM, MOBI and AZW are not supported. Ebook scripts and external resources are not loaded.

macOS Apple Silicon and Intel packages include signed automatic-update feeds. Use About → Check for Updates in an updater-enabled installation, or download the matching DMG.
