OpenCrown PC 1.0.5.2 + Mobile 0.1.2 (beta)
OpenCrown PC 1.0.5.2 and OpenCrown Mobile 0.1.2 (beta): better information about why OpenCrown fails to launch.
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.5.2-win64.zip - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.5.2-x86_64.AppImage(no changes besides the version) - Android (beta):
OpenCrownMobile-v0.1.2-beta-arm64.apk
Windows
- When the game doesn't start or closes, the launcher now says why (a crash, a missing DLL with a link to Microsoft's runtime page, or a block by antivirus) and shows the log line that names the problem, not just an exit code.
Mobile / Android
- If the game can't start, OpenCrown Mobile now goes back to the launcher and shows the reason, instead of closing to the home screen.
- An update
eboot.binthat is still encrypted is now caught by the Game page check before you press Play.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.5.1 (hotfix)
Hotfix for 1.0.5. Please update. OpenCrown PC 1.0.5.1 for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck.
Downloads:
- Windows:

OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.5.1-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. - Android (beta):
OpenCrownMobile-v0.1.1-beta-arm64.apk, unchanged from 1.0.5 (Mobile wasn't affected).
On PC, use the Update button at the bottom left of the launcher.
Fixed
- Loot and EXP after online missions are back. The 1.0.5 change that made "Return to town" bring the whole party home skipped the spoils screen, so players got no loot or EXP. Online, the party also only got as far as the portal area, and heading into town proper dropped players out of the session. That change is removed, and the end of a mission works as it did before 1.0.5.
Everything else from 1.0.5 stays: two players in one home can join each other, the Language option, the launcher's dump check, Net trace, and the Steam Deck touch fix.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.5 + OpenCrown Mobile 0.1.1 beta
Version 1.0.5 of OpenCrown PC for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck (64-bit), and OpenCrown Mobile 0.1.1 beta for Android.
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.5-win64.zip. Unzip, runOpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.5-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (SteamOS 3.5+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora, Arch). - Android (beta):
OpenCrownMobile-v0.1.1-beta-arm64.apk. Install it over 0.1.0; your save and settings stay.
Already on v1.0.1 or newer on PC? Use the Update button at the bottom left of the launcher.
Online
- Two players in one home can play together. When two PCs (or a PC and a phone) shared one internet connection, some routers gave both of them the same address, so a friend could only reach one of them and joining failed with "could not connect". Each device now gets its own port. (Windows, Linux and Mobile.)
- "Return to town" brings the whole party home. At the end of a mission, every player's result window counted down to "Return to town" on its own, so players left the session one by one and the last one went home alone. Now the party goes back to town together, led by the host. "Continue adventure" works as before. (Windows and Linux.)
- Net trace (Windows): a new checkbox in the launcher's online settings. If an online session goes wrong, turn it on and send a bug report, so the report includes a trace of the session. Off by default.
Launcher
- Language: the Display page has a new Language option: English, French, Spanish, German or Italian, from the game's own files. (Windows and Linux.)
- Why a game dump won't start: if your dump can't be used, the Play bar now says why in one line (for example:
eboot.binorlibc.prxstill encrypted or cut short, or a CPK file damaged or incomplete). Hover for the full text, click to open the Game page. Before, an encrypted dump was reported as "not the latest patch".
Steam Deck / Linux
- Touch in online games: tapping the screen now moves your fairy when you aren't player 1. Before, a guest's taps sent the fairy to the top left of the screen.
OpenCrown Mobile 0.1.1 (Android, beta)
- Missing scenery fixed in the Ghost Ship Cove caves (route B), the Kraken fight and the lava stages: whole layers were drawn black.
- Known: characters standing in water aren't cut off at the waterline yet.
- The fix for two players in one home (see Online) is in Mobile too.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.4 + OpenCrown Mobile beta
Version 1.0.4 of OpenCrown PC for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck (64-bit), and the first beta of OpenCrown Mobile for Android.
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.4-win64.zip. Unzip, runOpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.4-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (SteamOS 3.5+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora, Arch). - Android (beta):
OpenCrownMobile-v0.1.0-beta-arm64.apk. See OpenCrown Mobile below.
Already on v1.0.1 or newer on PC? Use the Update button at the bottom left of the launcher.
Steam Deck
- Touch screen in Game Mode: Game Mode turns touches into mouse clicks for non-Steam games. Those clicks now steer the fairy pointer like a real touch: tap to send the fairy there and interact (doors, chests), drag to move it. Before, a touch could land as an attack.
- Controller first: on a Steam Deck, mouse buttons no longer press game buttons, so a stray click is never an attack. The keyboard still works, and button prompts start on the controller. Both are on the launcher's Controls page ("Left clicks are fairy touches", "Mouse buttons press game buttons") if you want them changed.
- With Steam Input on (the trackpad acting as a mouse), Game Mode doesn't tell the game where you touched. For the touch screen, add Touchscreen Native Support to the shortcut's controller layout: Action Sets → Add Always-On command → System → Touchscreen Native Support.
Bug reports
- Reports now include your operating system's name and version (for example
Windows 11 24H2orSteamOS 3.6), so platform-specific problems can be found faster. Nothing that identifies your device is added, and Preview still shows exactly what is sent.
OpenCrown Mobile (Android, beta)
The first test build of OpenCrown for Android phones, tablets and handhelds. Expect rough edges and please send bug reports from its launcher.
- Needs: your own decrypted PS Vita dump of Dragon's Crown (US, PCSE00019) with the 1.09 update, and an Android 9+ device with a 64-bit ARM CPU and Vulkan 1.1. A controller is recommended; on-screen controls appear while none is connected.
- Install: allow installing from unknown sources, install the APK, then copy the base game to
Internal storage/OpenCrown/dump/Game/and the update toInternal storage/OpenCrown/dump/Update/(a VitaShellapp/+patch/layout works too). Allow "All files access" when asked. - Online: plays together with OpenCrown PC (Windows and Linux) through the same lobby server. Online play starts at the stables in town.
- Saves move both ways, no conversion: Import PC save on the launcher's Save Folder page brings a PC save over, and Export save sends your Mobile save wherever you pick (Downloads, a USB stick, Google Drive...) to put into
Documents\Dragons Crown Pro\saves\SAVEDATA00\on the PC. - In town, tapping the screen opens the Town Map. That's how the Vita version works, not a bug.
Why the PS Vita version instead of the PS4 one?
- Lighter to run. The Vita version draws at 960×544, a quarter of the pixels of 1080p, with assets made for a handheld.
- Easier on phone CPUs. Phones use 64-bit ARM chips. Translating the Vita's 32-bit ARM code is much closer and cheaper than translating the PS4's x86-64 code (x86's stricter memory ordering is expensive to imitate on ARM).
- Touch is already built in. The Vita version supports its touch screen natively, including the fairy pointer, so touch play works the way the game was designed.
- Easier to dump. A Vita is far easier for most players to dump their own copy from than a PS4.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.3
Version 1.0.3 of OpenCrown PC for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck (64-bit).
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.3-win64.zip. Unzip, runOpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.3-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (SteamOS 3.5+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora, Arch).
Already on v1.0.1 or v1.0.2? Use the Update button at the bottom left of the launcher.
Fixes
- Online: if the connection to the lobby server drops for a moment, the game now reconnects by itself and you keep your place in the room. Before, the session ended.
- Online: at the end of a mission, players who choose the same option as the host now follow the host back to town together.
- Message boxes (item selection, resurrection, the dying prompt) no longer close by themselves the moment they open.
- Save files now show your PC's local time instead of UTC.
The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage of this version has been removed. Please download the latest release instead.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.2
Version 1.0.2 of OpenCrown PC for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck (64-bit).
Requires your own dump of Dragon's Crown Pro (CUSA10454), updated to the latest patch (1.03), with the decrypted eboot.bin. Encrypted PS4 PKGs are not supported.
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.2-win64.zip. Unzip, runOpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.2-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (SteamOS 3.5+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora, Arch).
Already on v1.0.1? Use the Update button at the bottom left of the launcher.
Fixes
- Linux / Steam Deck: fixed crackling sound on the Steam Deck and Steam Machine. Sound now goes through PulseAudio, the same way it does under Proton. If you still hear crackling, please send a report from the Report a Bug page: the log now records audio dropouts.
- Renaming a bag or naming a hero no longer freezes the game. A text box opens where you type the name. On the Steam Deck, press Steam+X for the on-screen keyboard, Start to confirm and B to cancel.
- Online: if the connection to the lobby server drops during a session, the game no longer hangs at the next stage load. It carries on offline instead.
New
- The launcher's Game page checks that your dump is the latest patch (1.03). An older version is marked "[wrong version]" and the Play button stays off until you dump the updated game from your PS4/PS5.
The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage of this version has been removed. Please download the latest release instead.
OpenCrown PC v1.0
Version 1.0 of OpenCrown PC for Windows (64-bit).
Requires your own dump of Dragon's Crown Pro (CUSA10454) with the decrypted eboot.bin. Encrypted PS4 PKGs are not supported and never will be. Please support the game: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP2611-CUSA10454_00-DRAGONSCROWNPRO1
Unzip, run OpenCrownPC Launcher.exe, point it at your dump folder and press Play. Contains only OpenCrown's own code (launcher, dcp_run, SDL3.dll); no game files.
Built with Claude (Anthropic) as a coding contributor.
OpenCrown PC v1.0.1
Version 1.0.1 of OpenCrown PC, now for Windows and Linux / Steam Deck (64-bit).
Requires your own dump of Dragon's Crown Pro (CUSA10454) with the decrypted eboot.bin. Encrypted PS4 PKGs are not supported.
Downloads:
- Windows:
OpenCrownPC-v1.0.1-win64.zip. Unzip, runOpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. - Linux / Steam Deck:
OpenCrown-Linux-1.0.1-x86_64.AppImage. Make it executable and run it. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (SteamOS 3.5+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora, Arch). On the Deck: add it to Steam as a non-Steam game to play from Game Mode.
New
- Linux and Steam Deck build (first release; feedback welcome on Discord or with the Report a Bug page). On the Deck: controller works in the launcher too, the right trackpad moves the fairy pointer, and tapping the touch screen sends the fairy to that spot. Saves are the same PS4-format files as on Windows, so you can move them between both.
- Update button in the launcher (bottom left): checks for new versions, shows what changed and installs the update with one click. Works from this version on, so v1.0 players download this one by hand once.
- The launcher shows its version number.
Fixes
- Fixed a rare crash when two parts of the game wrote to the same texture at the same moment.
- Fixed crackling / stuttering sound on some audio devices (the sound buffer had too little headroom).
- Windows: removed the leftover F12 debug capture key.
Other
- The downloads now include the third-party license notices.
Windows, installing by hand: unzip over your existing OpenCrownPC folder (or anywhere new), then run OpenCrownPC Launcher.exe. Your saves and settings are kept.
The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage of this version has been removed. Please download the latest release instead.
