When using a single-board computer of Hardkernel's ODROID series as the hardware platform for OpenCCU, the basic installation is performed as follows.

Requirements

  • A supported ODROID model with the matching OpenCCU image:

    ODROID model Image
    ODROID-N2, ODROID-N2+ odroid-n2
    ODROID-C4 odroid-c4
    ODROID-C2 odroid-c2
  • A microSD card or an eMMC module with at least 8 GB.

  • A supported radio module: the RPI-RF-MOD or HM-MOD-RPI-PCB can be plugged directly onto the GPIO header of the ODROID; alternatively, USB radio modules (e.g. HmIP-RFUSB, HB-RF-USB-2) or an HB-RF-ETH can be used.

  • A computer with a card reader (or eMMC adapter) and an imaging tool, e.g. the Raspberry Pi Imager.

Installation

  1. Download the release Download the file matching your model, OpenCCU-X.XX.XX.YYYYMMDD-odroid-n2.zip, …-odroid-c4.zip or …-odroid-c2.zip, from Releases.

  2. Extract the ZIP Extract the archive using a suitable tool; an *.img file is then available.

  3. Write the image Write the *.img to the microSD card or the eMMC module connected via an adapter using an imaging tool (e.g. Raspberry Pi Imager via "Use custom"); all data will be erased.

  4. Insert the storage medium Insert the microSD card or the eMMC module into the ODROID. On the ODROID-N2/N2+, the boot switch must be set to "MMC".

  5. Connect the radio module Either plug the RPI-RF-MOD (or HM-MOD-RPI-PCB) onto the GPIO header or connect a USB radio module.

  6. Put into operation Connect the ODROID to the local network via an Ethernet cable and connect the power supply.

  7. Observe the startup The ODROID starts automatically. The blue status LED indicates the boot process and pulses in heartbeat mode after a successful start (see Status LED Function). The first start may take a little longer. If no monitor is connected, the HDMI outputs are switched off automatically to avoid radio interference.

  8. Connect to the WebUI Open http://openccu/ in your browser (alternatively, use the IP address assigned via DHCP) to open the OpenCCU WebUI. Afterwards, the first steps after installation help with the further setup.

Updates

Updates are performed via the update function of the WebUI or manually with the matching *-odroid-n2.zip, *-odroid-c4.zip or *-odroid-c2.zip archive.

Uninstallation
