en.Installation VirtualBox
If you use Oracle VirtualBox as your virtualization environment, you can perform a basic OpenCCU installation with the following step-by-step guide.
- A computer with VirtualBox installed (incl. the Extension Pack for USB 2.0 support).
- For the virtual machine: 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM and a virtual disk with at least 6 GB (recommended: 8 GB).
- A supported USB or network-based radio module, e.g.
HmIP-RFUSB,HB-RF-USB-2orHB-RF-ETH.
Note: For the initial installation under VirtualBox, the
*.ovais used. The*-ova.zipis only required for later WebUI-based updates of an already installed VM.
-
Download Download the latest
*.ovafrom Releases. -
Import the appliance Open the graphical user interface of VirtualBox and select "Import Appliance" to create a new VM.

-
Check/adjust the settings In the following dialog, check the suggested settings and adjust them if necessary.

-
Open the virtual disk in the media manager After the import, switch to the Virtual Media Manager.

-
Adjust the disk size Select the virtual disk of the OpenCCU VM created during the import, open "Properties" and enlarge the capacity using the slider (recommended 8 GB) so that
/usr/localhas sufficient space.
-
Optimize the VM settings Open "Settings" of the new VM.

-
USB passthrough: Set the USB controller to USB 2.0 (OHCI + EHCI) or higher. If you use an
HmIP-RFUSBor a radio module viaHB-RF-USB/HB-RF-USB-2, pass the device through to the VM: click the USB plug with "+" on the right and select the corresponding device. Tip: Under Windows, the USB board is sometimes not detected correctly after standby/restart. In this case, additionally add the USB hub or the FTDI device as a filter.
-
Paravirtualization: Set the paravirtualization to "KVM" to avoid problems with inaccurate time synchronization.

First start Start the VM. You should see the startup in the virtual console. After a successful start, OpenCCU reports in the network. Then open the WebUI at
http://openccu/(or via the IP address assigned via DHCP). Afterwards, the first steps after installation help with the further setup.
Updates are performed via the update function of the WebUI or manually with the *-ova.zip archive.
Information on uninstallation can be found under Uninstallation.
