Announcements

We have released data with source IDs of the form IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-2 due to an error being found in the aviation emissions of IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-1. For details, please see below

⚠️ Breaking Changes

  • Released data with source IDs of the form IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-2

As a result of an issue being found (this comment),
aviation data needs to come from files with a different source ID than the rest of the data.
For aviation data, files with source IDs of the form IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-2 should be used.
For all other data, files with source IDs of the form IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-1 should be used.

The implication of this error on existing simulations (and their predicted climate forcing)
is deemed to be small (due to the small size of this sector in the overall climate system).
Therefore, existing model simulations based solely on IIASA-IAMC-*-ext-1-1-1
do not need to be rerun if such a rerun is not possible.
Modelling teams that have not begun their simulations should, however,
use the latest version of the aviation emission forcings as specified above.
Modelling teams should record the version of the forcing files they use following the CMIP7 guidance
(see the 5th dot point here https://wcrp-cmip.github.io/cmip7-guidance/docs/CMIP7/Guidance_for_modellers/#1-requirements-expectations).

If any modelling centres run simulations
with both the IIASA-IAMC-*-1-1-2 and IIASA-IAMC-*-1-1-1 aviation emissions forcing,
these simulations would be of interest to the Forcings Task Team. (#465)
