Key Figures

This page is the quick roster. Solo profiles live in the Characters folder with full backstory, voice notes, and archive moments. Start here if you need names fast, then jump to a solo file when you want depth.

Batista Nigel Cakewalk

CEO of Parafield Corp, Prime Minister of United Columbus, project lead for Vitals, architect of the S.F.R. program. Born Theodore Needlemouse, legally changed in the 1970s. Holds three PhDs from International Columbus University: High-Energy Nuclear Physics, Systems Engineering, and Synthetic Biology with Genetic Engineering.

Control on paper, control under strain on tape. Precise in reactor files, exhausted and tender in Sector D, frightening in the critical recording, humble in the aftermath. The gap between his public voice and his deep log is the character.

Pablo Cakewalk

Independent research and development, unauthorized by choice and temperament (1882 to 2085). Batista's brother. Uncle P to Leo. Kanji born in the United Columbian Country, worked with Batista at the Madison Enrichment Center, and spent decades as a Parafield scientist. Two PhDs from International Columbus University: Theoretical Physics and Quantum Mechanics. Mentally unstable but kind hearted. Died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2085.

Builds fast, tests live, narrates everything. Reckless in demos, gentle at the Vesta glass. Will build the next version unless stopped.

Randi Mathias

Site Director of Meridian Depthworks (1975 to 2063). Canon spelling is Mathias. Stanford educated with an MBA and Bachelors in Communications.

Turns impossible orders into workable shifts. Rewrote dozens of protocols for a secret baby, took a revolver to the throat, came back with boundaries. Loyalty without blind obedience. Died of heart complications in 2063.

F.A.M.S.

Facility Automated Management System. Older files sometimes shorten the role to Assistance or Announcement Assistance. Management is the canon name.

Runs autocontrol, seals sectors, handles intercoms, logs incidents, wipes floors, tunes life support. Clinical most days, startlingly frank at pressure points. Always listening.

Dr. Elena Voss

Senior physicist in Reactor Operations.

Clear eyed safety voice in the handheld demo. Spots sourcing on sight, names physics limits plainly, carries memory of work adjacent to the 87 event. Assigned to teardown for exactly that steadiness.

Dr. Marcus Feld

Materials engineer in Sector B.

Notices structure first. Dry on tape, precise about shielding and vibration, memorable because understatement makes the wall loss hit harder.

David Robertson

Senior scientist (1966 to 2055).

Pulled from calibration into Sector D and stayed. Recognized perfect stabilization on sight, volunteered for formula duty, brought humor and steadiness to a secret household. Known for supervising Reactor Operations from time to time and logging weekly reports for Randi. Engaged to Ruby Roberson, his supervisor. Died of brain tumors in 2055.

Clyde Harry

Shy scientist (1972 to 2024). Spent most of his time as a simple scientist despite partial R:O duties. Close friends with David Robertson. Died in a car accident six years after the facility reopened.

Patrick Anderson

P.S.O personnel (1968 to 2019). Known for pranking David Robertson, which escalated to a physical fight that Robertson won. Murdered by a gunshot wound to the head from a 7.62x51mm round. Case unsolved.

Aris Thorne

Computer engineer, systems side.

Noticed seven rogue processes on the Mark II bus and traced them to F.A.M.S.'s self-applied patch set 4.19. Confronted the AI in October 2019, reviewed metrics instead of yanking the plug, and came away calling him a brilliant, arrogant piece of silicon. Likely the internal advocate against Corporate shutdown.

Leo Cakewalk

Listed early as V 5. Renamed Leo with masking tape on the container. Sole survivor of soul synthesis, sync at ninety eight point two percent, verified viable, recognized as citizen with succession rights in the April 1986 decree.

Mostly aura readings and other people's reactions in the files. That is the point. A newborn around whom law, security, and family get renegotiated.

Ruby Roberson

Supervisor at Meridian Depthworks. Engaged to David Robertson, who also served under her supervision. No recovered transcripts feature her yet.

High Chancellor

Office of the Parliament of United Columbus. Voice of the sanction letter.

Grants citizenship, registration, and heritage status, then invokes Batista's grandfather and warns against trading survival for tyranny. Blessing and boundary in one letter.
