v1.4.1 — Windows 11 compatibility fix

Choose a tag to compare

@DaRealDaHoodie DaRealDaHoodie released this 07 Apr 09:22

What's New in v1.4.1

Windows 11 Fix

  • Dependencies (fastmcp, uvicorn) now install into a local lib/ folder inside the addon directory instead of Blender's system Python — no admin rights required on Windows
  • Windows install uses mcp and uvicorn (without optional extras) to avoid pulling in pywin32 / prompt_toolkit / rich which have no Windows wheels in Blender's Python
  • pywin32 DLL paths (win32/, win32/lib/, pywin32_system32/) are registered automatically on Windows so pywintypes313.dll is found correctly
  • Mac and Linux behavior is unchanged

v1.4.0 — UV Unwrap, Texture Wiring, Batch Export, Bake, Mesh Edit

Choose a tag to compare

@DaRealDaHoodie DaRealDaHoodie released this 17 Mar 10:26

What's New in v1.4.0

Five new tools targeting hard-surface asset pipelines (e.g. Roblox datacenter props):

UV & Texturing

  • unwrap_uv — UV unwrap a mesh in Edit Mode. Supports smart_project (default, recommended for hard-surface), unwrap, and cube_project. Takes angle_limit (degrees) and island_margin.
  • set_material_texture — Load an image file and wire it into a Principled BSDF channel (BASE_COLOR, NORMAL, ROUGHNESS, METALLIC, EMISSION). Color-space is set automatically; a Normal Map node is inserted automatically for the NORMAL channel.

Export

  • batch_export — Export every mesh in a collection as a separate file. Supports FBX and GLB. Applies transforms per object before export. Returns a list of all written file paths.

Baking

  • bake_texture — Bake from a high-poly object onto a low-poly using Cycles selected_to_active. Supports NORMAL, AO, DIFFUSE, and ROUGHNESS. Saves result as PNG. Render engine is restored after baking.

Mesh Editing

  • edit_mesh — BMesh-based mesh operations: loop_cut, inset, extrude_region, merge_by_distance, and set_smooth_shading. Uses bmesh directly for reliable scripted use (no interactive operators).

UI

  • The N-Panel now shows the loaded addon version (v1.4.0) at the top of the MCP panel.

Total tools: 59 static + 3 advanced = 62

v1.3.0 — Dynamic Discovery + TF-IDF Docs + Safe Exec

Choose a tag to compare

@DaRealDaHoodie DaRealDaHoodie released this 14 Mar 00:42

What's new

Three new tools that let the agent reach Blender's full ~3000-entry API surface using a discover → docs → execute chain — without bloating the tool list.

discover_api

Searches bpy.ops.*, bpy.types.*, and bpy.data.* with keyword + fuzzy matching. Index built once on first call (~3 s) and cached to disk. Pass rebuild_cache=True to refresh after a Blender update.

query_api_docs

TF-IDF search over every bpy operator and type docstring. Pure Python stdlib — zero new dependencies. Cache persists across server restarts.

execute_safe_python

Hardened replacement for bare execute_python:

  • Pushes an undo step first (all changes reversible via Ctrl-Z)
  • dry_run=True validates syntax and flags dangerous patterns without executing
  • Captures a result variable from your code
  • Sanitizes output (no raw bpy objects in the response)
  • Rate-limited to 10 calls per 60 seconds

Agent workflow

discover_api("bevel")               # find the operator
query_api_docs("bevel edges mesh") # understand the parameters
execute_safe_python("""             # call it safely
import bpy
bpy.ops.mesh.bevel(offset=0.1, segments=2)
result = "Bevel applied"
""", push_undo=True)

All 54 existing tools are unchanged.

Install

  1. Download universal_blender_mcp_v1.3.0.zip
  2. In Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install... → select the zip → enable
  3. Open the MCP N-panel tab → Start MCP Server

v1.2.0 — Streamable HTTP transport

Choose a tag to compare

@DaRealDaHoodie DaRealDaHoodie released this 14 Mar 00:21

What's new

Streamable HTTP transport (replaces SSE)

The server now uses the MCP Streamable HTTP transport (POST /mcp) instead of the older SSE transport (GET /sse + POST /messages/). Streamable HTTP is the current spec direction and is supported by all major MCP clients (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Continue, etc.).

Update your client config endpoint from:

http://127.0.0.1:8400/sse

to:

http://127.0.0.1:8400/mcp

Compatibility fixes

  • Detects the correct transport method across mcp package versions (streamable_http_app → http_app → sse_app fallback chain)
  • outputSchema is still stripped from tools/list responses for clients that don't implement the 2025-06-18 spec

Install

  1. Download universal_blender_mcp_v1.2.0.zip
  2. In Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install... → select the zip → enable the addon
  3. Open the Universal Blender MCP panel (N-panel) and click Start MCP Server
