FAQ
Most likely yes. I don't know what Cobblemon plans to do with their breeding system, but given how Cobblemon currently functions and what features it does/doesn't provide, it likely won't have the same level of customisability as Daycare+.
I will make the decision when the time comes, but I will most likely choose one of the following:
- Integrate with the official system, bringing the Breeding Rules and incubators into it.
- Disable the official system entirely. (Perhaps via config.)
Daycare+ has an egg conversion feature built into the incubators. Depending on how Cobblemon eggs are handled, incubators will either work with them directly and convert Daycare+ eggs into Cobblemon eggs for a smooth transition, or it will convert Cobblemon eggs into Daycare+ eggs.
This means that the Polymer resource pack has not been configured, generated, or distributed properly to your players. You will need to follow the instructions on the Polymer Wiki to handle this correctly.
Daycare+ quite literally only exists because BetterBreeding was not good enough. It is closed-sourced, not very customisable, and heavily encourages you to be AFK 24/7 just to maintain egg production (especially on servers with an economy); it also has a history of hilarious game-breaking bugs which invalidate your config, such as daycares "randomly deactivating" or players being able to abuse the pasture cache to get infinite pastures.
When compared to Cobbreeding, Daycare+ is better for servers because it is not required on the client; many Cobblemon servers prefer this style as they try to stay compatible with the official Cobblemon modpack. Daycare+'s anti-AFK features also let it beat Cobbreeding's method by allowing the player to still explore the world and do other activities without the opportunity cost of missing eggs.
Daycare+ is also the only breeding mod to have an extremely extensive Breeding Rule system. Other mods don't have the ability to allow full customisation of breeding in the same way that Daycare+ does and will often break when dealing with some fakemon. Notably they will often break when attempting to breed fakemon that evolve from custom forms of otherwise vanilla Pokemon (like how Overqwil evolves from Hisuian Qwilfish).
Daycare+ can also convert eggs from these other mods into Daycare+ eggs, making it not too difficult to transition to this mod. The conversion does not natively support eggs from these mods, but you just need to write a simple mixin to achieve this.
The mod is free for any individual or server to use, even servers that make money or act as a business.
However, the mod cannot be monetised in any way on your server without explicit permission. To give some examples for clarity:
- You cannot sell items from the mod, such as incubators or boosters, on your webstore for real money or any currency that can be acquired with real money.
- You cannot lock access to the mod or any of its items behind a paid rank.
- If your server has ANY avenues for converting real money into a standard in-game currency - and that standard currency can then be used to buy Daycare+ items: that is not allowed.
- Such as using real money to buy "gems", then converting "gems" into "gold", then using the "gold" to buy the item from another player.
- Selling Pokemon eggs that use Daycare+ textures is not allowed.
- You may not create custom configs or datapacks and then sell these for profit.
Examples of things you may do:
- You may sell Daycare+ items for non-paid special currency, such as rewards for voting for the server.
- You may put Daycare+ items in a crate/lootbox/gacha only if they can only be acquired through in-game means with zero monetisation.
- You may use Daycare+ items as login rewards.
- You may make them obtainable through normal free-to-play gameplay.
Purchasing a Commercial License grants the right to sell items from the mod or otherwise make money from it.
If you're unsure just ask, but the rule of thumb is simple: if you want to profit off of it, then I also get to profit off of it.
A Commerical License can be acquired for a single-purchase of £100. The license applies to a single server or network entity, not an individual person.
- If your server uses shards or a shared network to distribute players, only a single license is required.
- If you rebrand your server under a new name or create a new one entirely, a separate Commercial License may be required.
- If unsure, just ask.

Yes, but be aware that any requested feature is not guaranteed to be added. If I think your idea is really good and suits the mod, then I'll work to add it for the next release. Some features I might be more unsure about, so that will come down to whether or not there is enough demand (if a handful of servers/players all want the same thing, then I'm more inclined to make the feature they need).
If a feature is niche enough that there's very little demand, I'm open to talking to you about it and taking it on as a commission.
