QBTC Core v2.6.0: Native CUDA GPU Mining Upgrade
What's New in v2.6.0
This release marks a historic milestone for the Quantum Bitcoin (QBTC) network with the integration of an in-tree, open-source, and fee-free CUDA GPU mining backend directly into the core code.
Major Highlights:
- Core CUDA Backend: Built from the ground up to support multiple GPUs dynamically and independently.
- 0% Dev Fee: Staying true to the Cypherpunk ethos, this implementation is entirely open-source (MIT Licensed) with absolutely zero developer fees.
- CPU Optimization: Reimplemented midstate caching for the CPU hash path, improving performance for non-GPU participants.
- Seamless Fallback: Devices without NVIDIA GPUs or CUDA toolkits will seamlessly fallback to the optimized CPU mining core.
Provenance and Acknowledgements:
A massive thank you to @kaito-zero for developing this CUDA architecture entirely independently and contributing it directly to QBTC-core. This is exactly how decentralized open-source development should work.
What's Changed
- Add CUDA GPU mining backend, multi-device support, and CPU midstate caching by @kaito-zero in #9

Q-BTC Core v2.5.0
Q-BTC Core v2.5.0 is now available. This release sets the activation height for witness commitments, establishes an updated chain checkpoint, and includes routine transaction validation and RPC hardening.
Node operators and miners should upgrade prior to block 25,000.
Notable Changes
- Consensus: Witness commitment activation scheduled at block 25,000.
- Checkpoints: Added checkpoint at block 22,800.
- Validation: Hardened mempool memory limits and duplicate transaction validation.
- RPC: Added host header validation and CORS origin controls for reverse-proxy deployments.
Thanks to @kaito-zero for contributions to validation and test coverage.
What's Changed
- Harden mempool, relay and sync paths against malformed or unbounded input by @kaito-zero in #7
- Tighten validation in amounts, RPC access, compact blocks and mempool bookkeeping by @kaito-zero in #8

v2.4.1
This patch release addresses a keystore edge case on shared nodes and resolves IBD synchronization stalls. We recommend all node operators and web wallet providers upgrade to this version.
Security & Stability
- Keystore protection (#5): Adds OS-level file locks and path traversal checks to prevent new wallet creations from inadvertently overwriting existing keystore files with the same alias.
- IBD sync fix (#3): Resolves an issue where nodes could stall during initial block download when a heavier branch was only known by headers.
API Improvements
- Balance calculation (#4): The
get_balanceRPC now accurately returns the maximum sendable amount after network fees.
Acknowledgements
- Thanks to @kaito-zero for implementing these patches.
- Thanks to Dik Nolo for reporting the keystore edge case.

v2.4.0
What's Changed
- Fix sync stalls caused by large blocks (codec read limit + template size cap) by @kaito-zero in #2
New Contributors
- @kaito-zero made their first contribution in #2

Thanks to @kaito-zero for the PR and contribution!
v2.3.1
v2.3.0 - Core Protocol Maintenance & State Validation Hardening
Overview
Q-BTC Core v2.3.0 is a protocol maintenance release focused on strengthening UTXO state machine transitions, optimizing reorg evaluation, and standardizing consensus verification across all active nodes.
Key Changes
- Target Alignment: Enforced strict
required_targetcalculation and verification pipelines for Hardfork v2. - State Machine Consistency: Refactored UTXO state evaluation and witness verification routines to prevent consensus drift across heterogeneous architectures.
- Fail-Closed PoW: Hardened proof-of-work matching during chain reorganization and active tip evaluation.
Special Thanks & Acknowledgments
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to @J4D33S for identifying state transition edge-cases during node interop testing and providing diagnostic telemetry.
