Installing PMET on Windows 10

Downloading MLM

  1. Downloading the MLM Folder - The download may take some time so it can be faster to download the Machine Learning Models in the background while installing PMET. Download the zip file here.

Installing PMET

1. Installing Python

Follow the instructions to download Python 3.11. When installing Python be sure to check the box that says "Add Python to PATH" or add Python to environment variable.

install-python

2. Downloading the program

Navigate to the main Github page, click the green Code button, then at the bottom click Download ZIP.

3. Choosing the program location

Move the ZIP to a dedicated folder where you'd like the program to be located.

4. Unzipping the program

You can do this by right-clicking the ZIP and then click Extract all.... Leave the file explorer open, we need to copy the folder location for the next step.

5. Opening the Command Line

Press the Windows key or click the Windows search bar then type cmd and click Command Prompt.

open-cmd

6. Moving to the program folder

Within the command prompt type cd add a space. Then from the file explorer copy the program location and paste it into the command prompt and press enter to run the command.

7. Installing program libraries

In the command line type pip install -r requirements.txt and press enter to run the command, this may take a minute. (If you get an error try adding --user to the end of the command, this installs the libraries to the current user.)

8. Verify the Program Runs

Within the command line type python main.py and press enter. It may take a moment to start up, but should open a window similar to the image below.

Note: the program can be opened now but the photo extraction process will not work until the machine learning models have been installed.
