Quick Start
This walks you from a fresh install to a populated floor with equipment you can see in 3D. It takes about ten minutes.
Sign in as admin. Open Site Configurator (in the Configuration area). At the top of the Floor Plan Designer, set a Site name (for example "My Lab") and Save. This name replaces the internal site code in the top bar.
Still in the Site Configurator, use the Floor Plan Designer to lay out your room:
- Set the number of rows and the cabinets per row. The Lab edition allows up to 2 rows and 4 cabinets in total.
- Adjust the aisles and corridors, choose which aisles are hot or cold, and optionally place CRAC units along a wall.
- The 2D preview updates live as you change values.
Click Save layout, then Generate cabinets to materialise the design into real cabinet records.
Open Rack Manager. The device-type library is already loaded (around 5,589 types). Search for a manufacturer and model, then place it into a cabinet at the U position you want. Repeat for your switches, servers, PDUs, and patch panels.
Every device type has an image. Real photos are matched where available, and a clean schematic placeholder is generated for the rest, so your racks always look complete. See Device Library and Images to add the full real-image pack.
Open Connections to record how devices are cabled, port to port, including media type and colour. Open Cabling to see the runs, and the 3D scene routes them realistically through trays.
Open the 3D Scene. You will see your floor, cabinets, and the equipment you placed, with front faces on the aisle side. Cabinets that are not part of your layout are hidden, so a smaller floor shows bare tiles rather than empty racks.
At this point the scene is fully populated from your inventory. To make the thermal heatmap and power dashboards go live, connect a data source: see Live Monitoring.
- Using RackDaddy - the full tour of every view.
- Live Monitoring - wire up InfluxDB for live temperature and power.
- Device Library and Images - download real equipment photos.
