Using RackDaddy

A tour of the views in the Lab edition and what each one is for.

Overview

The landing dashboard for a site. It shows cold-aisle zone tiles, a live power summary, dry-contact states, and active alarms. The widgets are drag-and-drop; rearrange them and the layout is saved per site. Data appears once you connect a source (see Live Monitoring).

Slideshow

A rotating, full-screen view of your zones and power, meant for a wall display or NOC screen.

3D Scene

An interactive 3D model of your floor. Cabinets show the equipment you placed in Rack Manager, with front faces on the aisle side. Cabinets that are not part of your layout are hidden, so a smaller floor shows bare tiles rather than empty racks. Click a cabinet to inspect it. A thermal overlay tints the scene by temperature once zone data is flowing.

Thermal

The rack heatmap: per-cabinet and per-zone temperatures rendered as a colour field. Hidden on sites with no cooling configured.

Power

The power dashboard. Each configured meter shows live kW, power factor, per-phase voltages and currents. DB Breaker Mapping lets you lay out distribution boards and map breakers to the devices they feed.

Inventory and Rack Manager

Inventory is the flat list of everything you have. Rack Manager is where you place equipment: search the device-type library, drop a device into a cabinet at a U position, and manage its details. See Device Library and Images.

Connections and Cabling

Connections records port-to-port cabling, with media type, colour, and length. Cabling shows the runs, and the 3D scene routes them realistically through overhead and underfloor trays.

Capacity

Read-only utilization per cabinet: rack units used, power draw against budget, weight against rating, and port counts. A "where does this fit" check helps you place new equipment.

Network, IP Addresses, and VLANs

Topology shows the network graph derived from your connections. IP Addresses is a lightweight IPAM: define prefixes, track utilization, and bind addresses to device interfaces. VLANs tracks your VLAN IDs and names. The Lab edition allows up to 2 IP prefixes.

Site Configurator

The admin tool for shaping a site:

  • Floor Plan Designer - a 2D designer for rows, cabinets, aisles, and CRAC units. Save the layout, then generate the cabinet records. Also where you set the site's friendly name.
  • Data Sources - bind the site to live telemetry: the InfluxDB connection, buckets, cold-aisle zones, and power meters.

Account menu

The user badge (top right) opens account actions: notification settings (including ntfy alerts), local user management, and sign out.
