Favor System Explained

Favor is a persistent numerical value that represents how much an NPC trusts and likes you. It is tracked individually for each NPC you interact with.

Core Principles

  • Persistent: Favor is saved as part of your savegame data. It carries over between play sessions.
  • Gradual: Changes are applied slowly over time, not in huge spikes.
  • Contextual: Different actions have different impacts on favor.
  • Recoverable: Lost favor can be earned back through positive behavior.

How Favor Changes

Your favor with an NPC may increase or decrease when you perform certain actions, such as:

  • Completing jobs or contracts for them or their farm.
  • Helping their operations (e.g., clearing a blocked vehicle).
  • Hindering their work (e.g., constant traffic jams, damaging their property).
  • Consistent positive or negative behavior over a period of time.

Important Notes

  • Consistency Matters: A single minor mistake won't ruin your reputation. The system looks at your behavior over time.
  • No Instant Maxing: You cannot reach the highest favor level instantly. Building trust is meant to be a long-term goal.
  • Intentional Design: Favor loss is a feature, not a bug. It adds consequence to gameplay and makes your relationships feel more real.
