Releases: RetreatUI/RetreatUI-Addon
Release list
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.18
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.18
This prerelease directly addresses the live chat-overlap and frame-pacing reports from CoA testing. It does not change the established HUD layout.
Chat ownership / overlapping tabs
- Removes the old runtime behavior that force-showed
ChatFrame1and companion chat regions. - Removes target-change chat refreshes entirely.
- RetreatUI no longer docks, undocks, closes, hides, shows or repositions Blizzard/ElvUI chat frames.
- The historical Loot/Trade cleanup is permanently replaced with a state-only no-op.
- Adds one safe login recovery pass using Blizzard's own
FCF_DockUpdate()so existing dock visibility is recalculated without deleting tabs or changing dock membership. - ElvUI and Blizzard are now the sole owners of chat tab visibility and docking.
ElvUI refresh storm fix
- The old Pyromancer/Details compatibility driver no longer runs on
PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGEDorPLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD. - Removes the repeated delayed 0.10 / 0.50 / 1.50 second refresh passes.
- Pyromancer Heat filtering is now static profile data only.
- Removes the fallback to
ElvUI:UpdateAll(true), which could refresh action bars during normal gameplay and feed repeatedActionButton_UpdateOverlayGlowwork.
RetreatUI_Classes frame pacing
- Removes
ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWNfrom the shared AdvancedHUD event driver. - Removes
UNIT_POWER_FREQUENTfrom the shared AdvancedHUD event driver. - Cooldown events now update only cooldown timers and usable-state glows instead of rescanning up to 40 player auras and rebuilding both HUD rows.
- Power events no longer scan all player auras for classes that do not own a custom resource.
UNIT_AURAremains the owner of proc/buff state, while the existing lightweight timer remains the owner of countdown text.
Testing notes
Close Project Ascension completely after installing this build and start it again.
Please specifically test:
- Switching between General, Party and custom chat tabs and creating/selecting new tabs without two chat frames rendering on top of each other.
- Sun Cleric and Templar frame pacing in town and inside a dungeon with
RetreatUI_Classesenabled. - Whether the repeated
ActionBarButtonSpellActivationAlert/ActionButton_UpdateOverlayGlowLua error stops occurring during normal target changes and combat. - Normal class HUD cooldowns, procs and resources for visual regressions.
This is a Beta / prerelease build for live verification before promotion to Stable.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.17
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.17
This prerelease is a focused performance and secure-frame safety hotfix. It does not change the established HUD layout.
Class HUD performance
- Stops legacy class-helper polling from running for unrelated classes.
- Cultist Wago mechanics polling is active only while the Cultist Class HUD is active.
- Tinker healer-pet polling is active only while the Tinker Class HUD is active.
- Guardian reminder polling is active only while the Guardian Class HUD is active.
- Guardian banner tracking no longer listens to
COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTEREDfor every character; the combat-log listener is registered only for an active Guardian HUD. - Idle helper drivers unregister their events instead of continuing to process aura/combat events in the background.
Secure-frame / combat taint safety
- RetreatUI generic cleanup no longer includes Blizzard
PlayerFrame,TargetFrame, or party unit frames in its cleanup candidates. - Protected frames are rejected before RetreatUI calls
SetAlpha,EnableMouse,Hide, or other visual/mouse mutations. - Native class-resource cleanup now applies the same protected-frame boundary.
- Old persisted generic cleanup entries for Blizzard unit frames are discarded instead of being re-applied.
- ElvUI remains responsible for Blizzard unit-frame visibility; RetreatUI cleanup is limited to safe, unprotected Ascension/CoA resource containers.
Validation
- Adds CI regression checks preventing protected Blizzard unit frames from returning to the cleanup allow-list.
- Adds CI checks for the beta.17 class-driver gate and protected-frame early-return rules.
Testing notes
A full /reload is required after installing this build. A frame that was already tainted earlier in the current WoW session cannot be made untainted by changing Lua code after it has loaded.
Please specifically test:
- FPS/frame pacing with
RetreatUI_Classesenabled. - Entering combat, changing target, party/raid transitions and secure actions without the
RetreatUI prevented the call of the secure function 'UNKNOWN()'warning. - Your normal class HUD/resource tracking to confirm no visible layout regression.
This is a Beta / prerelease build for live verification before promotion to Stable.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.16
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.16
This prerelease removes the guessed CoA stance geometry, restores the clean target frame, and puts Knight of Xoroth back on an explicitly curated HUD.
Stance / state placement
- Stance, form, aspect, oath, formation, presence and Pestilence trackers now anchor to the actual rendered right edge of the trinket tracker.
- The old theoretical
63pxtrinket width is gone; no icon-count calculation is used to decide where stance begins. - Both native RetreatUI state trackers and WeakAuras state groups use the same rendered trinket edge.
- State icons begin 6px after that edge and are bottom-aligned with the trinkets, so 38x38 state icons grow upward rather than into the resource bar.
- If the real trinket region is not available yet, state trackers stay off-screen until it exists instead of falling back to guessed screen coordinates.
Knight of Xoroth cleanup
- Retires the old bespoke KoX Pestilence tracker as a visible tracker.
- Pestilence is now owned by the same global class-state tracker used by the other CoA classes.
- KoX live-spellbook cooldown discovery no longer repopulates the HUD with every discovered cooldown.
- The visible KoX action rows are deliberately small:
- Core:
Unleash Pestilence - Utility:
Chainwhip,Snarl
- Core:
- Active aura trackers are limited to
Suffuse,Hellrider, andBlack Shield. - Demonfire, Hellfire Imp, Demon's Blood and the existing resource/counter logic remain intact.
Target frame cleanup
- The generic ElvUI target-frame debuff row is disabled again.
- The old KoX target-frame debuff bars are suppressed.
- Target debuffs are no longer allowed to turn the target frame into a generic aura dump; any future target mechanic display must be individually curated.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.15
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.15
This prerelease makes the Conquest of Azeroth stance/state lane deterministic for every class and every spec.
Final CoA stance lane
- One global placement rule now applies to all stance, form, aspect, oath, formation, presence and other class-state icons.
- The two 30x30 trinkets define an exact 63x30 anchor lane above the player/resource area.
- Every 38x38 class-state icon starts exactly 6px to the right of that trinket lane.
- State icons are bottom-aligned with the trinkets, so their extra 8px of height grows upward and cannot extend down into the primary resource bar.
- No class or spec is allowed to apply a separate stance X/Y offset.
- The final validator supersedes the retired beta.10 screen-centre validation that caused Bloodmage to fail with
Class State WeakAura is not on the global center lane. - Existing beta.9-beta.12 migration layers remain for upgrade compatibility, but beta.15 is the final authority for state geometry and validation.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.14
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.14
This prerelease fixes the Conquest of Azeroth class state / stance placement so stance, form, aspect, oath, formation and presence trackers use the trinket row as their single authoritative anchor.
CoA stance placement
- Class state icons now sit directly to the right of the RetreatUI trinket tracker.
- State icons use the exact same vertical lane as the trinkets, immediately above the primary resource bar.
- Removed the Guardian-specific vertical state offset so Guardian follows the same placement rule as every other CoA class.
- Removed the old absolute-position behavior as the final authority after HUD refreshes.
- State placement is reflowed synchronously after state updates and trinket refreshes, preventing icons from jumping back to stale class-specific coordinates.
- Legacy form trackers and the shared class-state tracker both use the same global placement rule.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.9
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.9
This prerelease fixes the remaining Necromancer resource placeholder and makes stance/form positioning a single global HUD rule instead of anchoring class states to ElvUI player-frame trinkets.
Global stance / form lane
- Every CoA class State / stance / form WeakAura now uses one shared screen-space rule.
- The state group is no longer anchored to ElvUF_Player, so it cannot sit behind or overlap the General trinket row.
- State icons are fixed at X -188 / Y -121 and grow left from that lane.
- With 38px icons, the bottom edge is Y -140. The primary resource bar top edge is Y -144, leaving a 4px vertical gap.
- X -188 also keeps the state icon 4px clear of the widest 330px secondary-resource bar, whose left edge is X -165.
- This rule applies to every class using the shared State tracker; there are no per-class stance coordinates.
Necromancer Life Force
- Removed the generic
Life Forceresource icon that had no spell/icon identity and therefore rendered as the red question-mark placeholder. - Necromancer Life Force is now treated as the mirrored Ascension class resource it already was in the native HUD.
- It uses the native resource discovery path with Life Force / lifeforce keywords and aura 805011 as fallback.
- Life Force renders as segments in the secondary-resource lane at Y -118, using the original
Spell_Shadow_AnimateDeadicon source instead of a question mark. - Reinstalling the Necromancer WeakAura HUD explicitly deletes the old beta.8
Resource — Life Forceleaf before rebuilding the corrected package.
Preserved HUD geometry
- Buffs & Procs: X 0 / Y -83.
- Secondary/custom resources: X 0 / Y -118.
- Primary resource: X 0 / Y -152, 360x16.
- Main: X 0 / Y -183, 38px icons, 1px spacing.
- Utility: X 0 / Y -224, 32px icons, 1px spacing.
- Trinkets remain owned by
RetreatUI - Generalat the existing ElvUF_Player anchor.
The TBC-style CoA installer introduced in beta.8 remains unchanged.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.8
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.8
This prerelease hardens the CoA WeakAuras migration and replaces the two-page CoA installer with the clean step-by-step flow used by RetreatUI TBC.
WeakAura HUD fixes
- Removed GameTooltip scraping from live WeakAura row selection. Ascension's GameTooltipMods can expose nil tooltip lines while the hidden scanner is building a spell tooltip; class HUD curation now uses the RetreatUI spell/class data directly instead.
- Resource packages now generate only the primary power that can actually be active for the current class instead of pre-creating Mana, Rage, Focus, Energy, Runic Power and Fury placeholders.
- Native secondary resources now generate only the configured representation (bar or segments). Guardian therefore keeps Energy plus Battle Momentum segments instead of a long list of inactive resource auras.
- Reinstalling a class HUD clears old Resource children first so beta.3-beta.7 placeholder resource auras do not survive upgrades.
- Bloodmage now has an explicit compact TBC-style Main/Utility curation profile and Blood Bond no longer falls back to a question-mark icon.
- Class State / stance / form trackers use the requested ElvUF_Player anchor: BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17, Y +1.
- General WeakAuras continue to own Trinkets plus Buffs & Procs. The retired native Trinket HUD is no longer exposed as a separate installer component.
Clean CoA installer
- Replaced the modular two-page install screen with a TBC-style one-step-at-a-time installer.
- Each component has its own page, status panel and apply button, with Back / Next navigation and progress markers for every step.
- The WeakAuras page installs the shared General package together with only the active CoA class package.
- Optional integrations such as TurboPlates, MobSpells, Details and DBM can be skipped without blocking the rest of setup.
Existing combat HUD geometry
- Buffs & Procs: X 0 / Y -83.
- Secondary/custom resources: X 0 / Y -118.
- Primary resource: X 0 / Y -152, 360x16.
- Main: X 0 / Y -183, 38px icons, 1px spacing.
- Utility: X 0 / Y -224, 32px icons, 1px spacing.
- Trinkets: ElvUF_Player, BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17 / Y +1.
- State / stance / form anchor: ElvUF_Player, BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17 / Y +1.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.7
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.7
This prerelease restructures the CoA WeakAuras HUD to match the proven RetreatUI TBC model and restores the exact class curation used by the previous native HUD.
TBC-style WeakAura profiles
- The shared
RetreatUI - Generalpackage remains responsible for Trinkets and Buffs & Procs. - The active CoA class now exposes separate top-level Resource, Main, Utility, State and Target WeakAura groups instead of one large outer class wrapper.
- Main and Utility now contain one WeakAura per ability, matching the TBC profile structure. The previous cloned
— Abilitiescatch-all displays are removed during upgrade. - Old RetreatUI class WeakAura packages for other CoA classes are removed when the current class package is installed, so Bloodmage/Guardian/other stale class roots no longer remain loaded on every class.
Exact native-HUD curation
- AdvancedHUD's existing per-class
coreOrder, utilityOrder, strict-order flags and row limits are captured and reused by WeakAuras. This keeps the same spells, order and limits that were already curated before the renderer migration. - Runtime form/combat/custom visibility gates are preserved, including Bloodmage form-specific abilities.
- CoA Buffs & Procs returns to the native HUD rule: only explicit
auraTracker=trueclass records are shown. The broad temporary-buff fallback introduced during the first WA migration is removed.
Class state cleanup
- State WeakAuras now reuse the existing grouped StateTracker collector: one active state per class-state group, with active shapeshift state taking priority over the matching aura.
- This removes duplicate stance/form displays caused by independently adding both an aura state and a shapeshift state.
- Bloodmage keeps the intended Mortal/Cursed fallback behavior.
Existing HUD geometry is unchanged
- Buffs & Procs: X 0 / Y -83.
- Secondary/custom resources: X 0 / Y -118.
- Primary resource: X 0 / Y -152, 360x16.
- Main: X 0 / Y -183, 38px icons, 1px spacing.
- Utility: X 0 / Y -224, 32px icons, 1px spacing.
- Trinkets:
ElvUF_Player, BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17 / Y +1. - Target debuffs and class states remain in their established RetreatUI locations.
The WeakAuras 5.21.2 compatibility fixes from beta.5 and beta.6 remain active.

Author: Retreat
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.6
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.6
This prerelease fixes the remaining WeakAuras 5.21.2 Icon.lua:642 crash after beta.5 by correcting the generated displays' progress source.
WeakAuras progress-source fix
- The beta.5 crash locals still showed
progressType = "static"on the rendered Icon even though RetreatUI had converted the custom trigger state to a safe timed zero-duration representation. - WeakAuras 5.21.2 distinguishes between the trigger state and the region's selected
progressSource. RetreatUI generated its custom-state displays withprogressSource = {1, ""}, which does not provide WeakAuras with a concrete timer/number descriptor for these stateupdate triggers. - RetreatUI now sets generated custom-state Icons and AuraBars to automatic state progress (
progressSource = {-1, ""}). WeakAuras therefore readsstate.progressTypedirectly and dispatches to its normal timed/static progress paths. - Combined with the beta.5 icon compatibility layer, ready/static cooldown-enabled Icons are represented as a zero-duration timed state and are now actually consumed as timed by the region, preventing the invalid
expirationTime - durationsubtraction inIcon:PreShow(). - Real cooldowns retain their normal timed duration and expiration time.
- Resource bars, segmented resources and target bars also now consume the exact progress state returned by RetreatUI instead of an incomplete trigger-1 progress descriptor.
- No HUD positions, class databases, tracked spells or renderer ownership changed.
Existing WeakAuras HUD layout
- Buffs & Procs: X 0 / Y -83.
- Secondary/custom resources: X 0 / Y -118.
- Primary resource: X 0 / Y -152, 360x16.
- Main: X 0 / Y -183, 38px icons, 1px spacing.
- Utility: X 0 / Y -224, 32px icons, 1px spacing.
- Trinkets:
ElvUF_Player, BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17 / Y +1. - Target debuffs and class states remain in their established RetreatUI locations.
Testing note
Install beta.6 over beta.5, reload UI, and run the RetreatUI installer again. Existing RetreatUI WeakAuras are updated in place. The Class WeakAuras HUD step should complete without the WeakAuras 5.21.2 expirationTime error.
This is a Beta / prerelease build for live verification before promotion to Stable.

RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.5
RetreatUI v1.1.7-beta.5
This prerelease fixes the remaining WeakAuras 5.21.2 icon crash seen on Conquest of Azeroth after beta.4.
WeakAuras 5.21.2 icon compatibility
- Fixes
WeakAuras/RegionTypes/Icon.lua:642: attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'expirationTime' (a nil value)when a cooldown-enabled icon is shown from a static custom trigger state. - The reported locals showed the failing RetreatUI icon was already a valid
progressType = "static"state. That means beta.4's timing-state validator was working, but the crash happened later inside WeakAuras' icon cooldown object. - WeakAuras 5.21.2
Icon:PreShow()checks the cooldown object's duration before calculatingexpirationTime - duration. On the Ascension client, a static icon can leave that internal duration populated without a matching WeakAuras-owned expirationTime. - RetreatUI now keeps real cooldowns as normal timed states, but converts otherwise-static ICON states at the final trigger boundary to a zero-duration timed state (
duration = 0,expirationTime = 0). WeakAuras therefore clears/hides the cooldown safely beforePreShow()and never enters the invalid subtraction branch. - The compatibility layer only touches cooldown-enabled icon regions. Resource bars, segmented resources and target aura bars retain their normal static/timed semantics.
- Main, Utility, Buffs & Procs, class State icons, class counter icons and Trinkets are covered automatically.
- No HUD positions, class spell databases, tracked abilities or renderer ownership changed from beta.4.
Existing WeakAuras HUD layout
- Buffs & Procs: X 0 / Y -83.
- Secondary/custom resources: X 0 / Y -118.
- Primary resource: X 0 / Y -152, 360x16.
- Main: X 0 / Y -183, 38px icons, 1px spacing.
- Utility: X 0 / Y -224, 32px icons, 1px spacing.
- Trinkets:
ElvUF_Player, BOTTOMRIGHT to TOPRIGHT, X -17 / Y +1. - Target debuffs and class states remain in their established RetreatUI locations.
Testing note
Install beta.5 over beta.4, reload UI, then run the RetreatUI installer again. The Class WeakAuras HUD step should complete without the Icon.lua expirationTime crash. Existing partially-created beta.3/beta.4 RetreatUI WeakAuras are updated in place by the installer.
This is a Beta / prerelease build for live verification before promotion to Stable.
