General updates (roundtable)

• Refactoring Project Hackathon 16-18 Sep (Sharp/Krzywon/Crake-Merani)
  • What should perspectives look like in the refactored GUI?
    • Do we want icons for perspectives, theory, data etc?
    • How does all of this look in the midi area?
    • What happens to perspectives when the close button is pressed?
  • Plotting refactor
    • Right now, we have an isolated demo of a tabbed plotting widget focussed on the Fitting perspective, alongside some code integrating the widget into the current implementation of the fitting perspective
    • Do we need to work on refactoring perspectives before adding the plotting widget?
    • What about the new MuMag perspective?
  • We have several PRs, each of which have reviewers assigned.
  • When will the next refactoring hackathon be held? Maybe early December?
• Any SASBDB integration project updates? (Wojciech)

• Where should developer documentation go? (James)

  • At the moment, we have a developer documentation section in the docs we package with SasView, but its mostly empty.
  • Instead, it seems most developer documentation we have (style guides, tutorials etc) seem to be in the wiki. Is this the right place for them?
  • A new issue to consider is that developers might want to provide style guides to AI tools for reviewing code, and they can't easily access them if they're on the wiki.
