A lapis rune is a type of item that can be used to influence enchantments in an enchanting table.
All lapis runes require a Lapis Block and Clay. The exact recipe varies by rune type, usually using Gold and additional Clay.
Lapis runes are placed in the lapis slot of an enchanting table. When a rune is inserted, the table's available enchantments are limited to those matching the rune's type. By default, runes correspond to an item category⁽¹⁾.
The level requirement of all enchantment options is multiplied by ×1.2⁽¹⁾, and the experience level cost is multiplied by ×1.5⁽¹⁾ when using a lapis rune. Like lapis lazuli, higher-tier options will consume additional runes.

- Originally, lapis runes would've been a single 'Mimic Book' item, which would be crafted with an item to determine its enchantment pool. This concept was later replaced for the current rune system.
- ↑ Default rune types, enchantment filters, and experience multipliers are configurable.
