Configuration

The mod uses a configuration file named privit.toml to control global settings, limits, and default behaviors. You can find this file in your Minecraft config folder (usually .minecraft/config/privit.toml).

Important

Client-Side vs. Server-Side Settings It is important to understand which settings affect what:

  • Client-Side ([hud] settings): These only affect your own screen. Every player can customize these settings individually in their own config file.
  • Server/Host-Side (All other settings): Settings like region_limits, default_rules, and frozen_rules only work for the world host or server admin. If you are playing on a server, changing these values in your local config file will do nothing. The server's config is the only one that matters.

How to Edit the Config

You have two ways to change the configuration:

1. In-Game Menu (Recommended)

You can edit the config directly inside the game using the Mod Menu mod.

  • Note: To use the in-game menu, you must have Mod Menu and Cloth Config installed. Both are optional dependencies, meaning the mod will work perfectly fine without them, but they make editing the config much easier!
  • Applying changes: When using Mod Menu, simply click the "Done" (or "Save and Quit") button at the bottom of the screen to apply your changes automatically.

2. Manual File Editing

You can open privit.toml with any text editor.

  • Applying changes: If you edit the file manually while the game is running, you must use the /privit reload command in-game (or restart the game/server) to apply the new settings.

Configuration Sections

Below is a brief explanation of each section in the privit.toml file.

[default_rules]

This section defines the default state (enabled or disabled) for every rule when a new group or region is created.

  • By adjusting this, server admins can save time. For example, if you want a "safe" server where players cannot build by default, you can set BUILD = false here.
  • Note: Players can still change these rules manually in the Region Table GUI after the region is created.

[region_limits]

This section controls the size and quantity limits for regions.

  • max_regions_per_player: The maximum number of regions a single player can own.
    • Set to 0 or a negative number to disable this limit completely.
  • max_area: The maximum size of a region in blocks (calculated as X * Y * Z). If a player tries to create or resize a region larger than this, the action will be denied.
    • Set to 0 or a negative number to disable this limit completely.

[hud]

This section controls the visual widget that shows the region name on the player's screen.

  • region_name_position: Determines where the text appears on the screen.
    • Allowed values: TOP_LEFT, TOP_RIGHT, BOTTOM_LEFT, BOTTOM_RIGHT.
    • (Remember: This is a client-side setting!)

[frozen_rules]

This is an advanced feature for server admins. "Freezing" a rule means it is globally disabled and hidden from all rule lists in the GUI.

  • How it works: If you add a rule name to the disabled list (e.g., disabled = ["PVP", "BUILD"]), players will not see these rules in the region Table, and they cannot change them.
  • State saving: If you later "unfreeze" a rule by removing it from the list, the mod remembers the state it had before it was frozen and restores it for all regions.
  • This is useful if you want to completely remove a mechanic from the game on your server without deleting the mod.
