FFmpeg Toolkit v10.3

Choose a tag to compare

@SunflowerGUY SunflowerGUY released this 10 Oct 00:17

What's new in 10.3

  • Video Crop/Stretch/Resize (was Video Crop & Stretch) has a new Resize menu: Keep size, 2160p … 360p, 50% and 25%.
    • Cropping, stretching and resizing now happen in one encode, so the video is only compressed once. That's less quality loss than cropping and then running the Video Scaler.
    • The output name shows the size, e.g. _stretched_480p.
  • Checkerboard preview: the preview sits on a pale "transparent" checkerboard, like a photo editor's, so black edges and the trimmed area stand out clearly.
  • Wider sidebar, so every tool name fits.

Windows: download ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-3-W.exe below and put it in a folder with ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe.
Linux (10.4-L): download the source, then run bash install.sh in LINUX PACKAGE. For an existing install, just copy the new ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-4-L.py into it.

@SunflowerGUY SunflowerGUY released this 09 Oct 21:30

What's new in 10.2

New tool: Video Crop & Stretch. It removes black edges from old or badly converted video.

  • Stretch Mode: trims the edges, then stretches the picture to fill the frame again. The frame size stays the same (a 960×720 video stays 960×720).
  • Crop Mode: trims the edges, and the frame gets smaller (960×720 becomes 936×720).
  • Arrow keys: use the on-screen keys or the keyboard's arrow keys. → / ← trim more or less off the sides, and ↑ / ↓ off the top and bottom. The picture always stays centred.
  • Live preview: in a pale-blue frame, so black edges stand out, with a time slider and a Before / After switch.

Taller window: the app now opens at 1150×845, centred and clear of the taskbar. Smaller screens get a window that fits.

Windows: download ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-2-W.exe below and put it in a folder with ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe.
Linux (10.3-L): download the source, then run bash install.sh in LINUX PACKAGE. For an existing install, just copy the new ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-3-L.py into it.

FFmpeg Toolkit v10.1

@SunflowerGUY SunflowerGUY released this 09 Oct 16:36

What's new in 10.1

  • Video Scaler: new Scale slider. With Custom size chosen, slide from the centre (×1, the source size) left to shrink down to ×0.3, or right to enlarge up to ×3. The width and height fill in for you and follow when you pick another file. Typing a size or choosing a preset puts it back to ×1.
  • Video Scaler layout: Codec and Quality now come first, with Resolution and the Scale slider together underneath.
  • Linux (10.2-L): the same Video Scaler changes, plus the taskbar fix (shows FFmpeg Toolkit instead of "Tk").

Windows: download ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-1-W.exe below and put it in a folder with ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe.
Linux: download the source, then run bash install.sh in LINUX PACKAGE (or copy the new ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-2-L.py into an existing install).

@SunflowerGUY SunflowerGUY released this 29 Sep 06:54

FFmpeg Toolkit 10.0 — a new dark "dashboard" look

  • New dark theme with card panels, a dark menu bar and a restyled sidebar
  • Run is blue; Abort stays grey until an operation is running, then turns crimson
  • Output names: your typed name is kept when you press Run; changing an option restores the auto-generated name with the new tag
  • Audio Accessibility warns before the run if the chosen format can't hold the file's subtitles
  • Linux: fixed a crash when pressing Abort
  • The ff logo now shows in the EXE's title bar

Download ffmpeg_toolkit_v10-0-W.exe below and place ffmpeg.exe + ffprobe.exe in the same folder. Linux users: see the LINUX PACKAGE folder.
