OpenChatMix 2.7.3

Choose a tag to compare

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 26 Oct 20:39

OpenChatMix 2.7.3

A portable mode you can turn on in the app.

New

  • Keep settings next to the app. Settings → General → Keep settings next to the app moves the settings,
    presets and plugin states into the folder of OpenChatMix.exe, so they travel with it on a USB stick or to
    another PC. Turning it off moves them back to %APPDATA%. OpenChatMix restarts either way. Keep the app in a
    folder you can write to; in Program Files the switch says so and nothing changes.

Thanks to @HaYToKoRaZ for asking in #11.
The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.

Upgrading

  • Earlier versions find this one on their own once a day (Settings → Updates), download it, check it
    against SHA256SUMS.txt and restart. You can also replace OpenChatMix.exe by hand.
  • Your settings carry over.

OpenChatMix 2.7.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 26 Oct 20:20

OpenChatMix 2.7.2

A small fix on top of 2.7.1 for the Arctis 7.

Fixed

  • Arctis 7: apps move as soon as it connects. Without virtual devices, apps that already play now go to
    Arctis 7 Game and Arctis 7 Chat right when the headset connects, for example after SteelSeries GG lets it go,
    and back to the default device when it goes away. Until now they waited for the next app to start playing.

If the Game and Chat channels still don't work for you, see #9:
leave Game and Chat on Windows default in Settings → Audio → Audio routing, keep Arctis 7 Game as the Windows
default output, and set apps with their own output setting, such as Discord, to Default.

OpenChatMix 2.7.1

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 26 Oct 19:31

OpenChatMix 2.7.1

The original Arctis 7 gets experimental support, and the panel speaks Turkish.

Highlights

  • Arctis 7 of 2017 and 2019 (experimental). Its ChatMix dial mixes in the headset itself, between its own
    Arctis 7 Game and Arctis 7 Chat devices. OpenChatMix now sends Game apps to Arctis 7 Game and Chat apps to
    Arctis 7 Chat on its own, with or without virtual device mode, and adds no balance on top, so nothing gets
    turned down twice. The mixer shows where the dial stands, and the Headset tab shows the battery and sets the
    auto power-off. It follows HeadsetControl's description of the protocol, so please report what does and
    doesn't work in #9.
  • Türkçe. A Turkish interface, translated with Claude Opus 5.5: Settings → General → Language. If
    something reads oddly, say so in #10.
  • Fixed: without virtual devices, back from a group's output picker returned to a channel page instead of
    Settings → Audio; the group rows there now show their icons as well.

Thanks to @HaYToKoRaZ for both requests.

OpenChatMix 2.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 26 Oct 08:51

OpenChatMix 2.7.0

All four of GG's channels: the Aux group joins Game, Chat and Media.

Highlights

  • Aux group. A second group like Media, as the Aux channel of SteelSeries Sonar. Turn it on in
    Settings → Audio → Aux group, then move apps into it from any group page. Its apps ignore ChatMix and get
    their own volume slider and level meter on the Mixer tab.
  • With or without virtual cables. Without them OpenChatMix sets the volume of Aux apps, and the group can
    play on a device of its own (Settings → Audio → Audio routing). In virtual device mode Aux takes a virtual
    cable of its own, apart from Media's, and gets its own channel on the Equalizer tab with Sonar's Aux
    presets and its own plugins. Without a cable it plays with Game.
  • The rest comes along. A Mute aux hotkey and the Aux equalizer in app profiles.

Media and Aux both stay off until you turn them on, so nothing changes for Game and Chat. Thanks to
@HaYToKoRaZ for asking in #8.

OpenChatMix 2.6.2

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 25 Oct 04:29

OpenChatMix 2.6.2

The Nova Elite's microphone equalizer gets the rest of GG's presets.

Highlights

  • All of GG's microphone presets on the Nova Elite. Broadcast Low Pitch, Clarity Low Pitch and Less Nasal
    join Flat, Balanced, Broadcast High Pitch, Clarity High Pitch and Deep Voice, in GG's order. Every one of
    them matches what GG sends.
  • Custom microphone curve in its own slot. GG keeps a custom microphone EQ in a slot of its own on the base
    station. Until now OpenChatMix put it in the slot of Clarity Low Pitch; if that preset sounds off, choose it
    once more and it's back.
  • No longer experimental. The microphone equalizer works, so its hint no longer asks for reports.

Thanks to @Lasfecas in #6 for the USB capture these come from and for testing it.

OpenChatMix 2.6.1

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 24 Oct 19:30

OpenChatMix 2.6.1

A small fix on top of 2.6.0.

Fixed

  • Equalizer tab header. In Ukrainian with three or four channels, the page title ran under the channel
    switch. When the title doesn't fit, the switch now takes the whole row instead, in line with the cards
    below; the selected Equalizer tab at the bottom still names the page.

OpenChatMix 2.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 24 Oct 16:55

OpenChatMix 2.6.0

Media gets a volume of its own, the equalizers get undo, and the group meters stop showing sound that
isn't there.

Highlights

  • Media volume and meter. The Media group has a volume slider and a level meter on the Mixer tab,
    like Game and Chat. Its apps still ignore ChatMix.
  • Undo for the equalizers. Ctrl + Z undoes a change on the Equalizer and Headset tabs,
    Ctrl + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Z redoes it, up to 100 steps. A drag is one step; in a number field the
    typing is undone first.
  • Leave an app out of ChatMix. The trash icon works in every group. In Game it leaves the app out
    of ChatMix: it keeps its own volume and belongs to no group, and in virtual device mode it plays past
    the virtual devices. Add in any group lists it as "out of ChatMix" and brings it back. The trash icon
    also shows right away next to an app you just added by hand.
  • Meters that show what really plays, without virtual devices. Apps that record the headset's
    sound, such as OBS capturing desktop audio or Discord in a call, made their group's meter show
    everything that played: with OBS in Game, Discord in Chat and music in Media, all three meters moved
    at once. Each app's meter now listens only to what that app plays. The same fix stops ducking from
    lowering Game for any sound while Discord is in a call, and stops GG's Discord screen from staying up
    for music.
  • Ctrl + A in a text field keeps the text selected, so typing replaces it.

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 23 Oct 23:17

OpenChatMix 2.5.8

The Nova Elite's microphone gets its own equalizer, in the headset itself.

Highlights

  • Microphone equalizer on the Nova Elite (experimental). The switch above the equalizer on the Headset
    tab now has a third choice, Microphone: GG's Balanced, Broadcast High Pitch, Clarity High Pitch and Deep
    Voice presets, Flat and ten band sliders for your own curve. It works in the headset itself, so unlike the
    microphone equalizer on the Microphone page it needs no virtual cable and adds no latency.
  • Bluetooth equalizer confirmed. The Elite's equalizer for sound over Bluetooth from 2.5.7 works.

Both thanks to @Lasfecas in #6: the presets match what GG sends in their USB capture. If the
microphone equalizer doesn't change your voice, please tell us there.

OpenChatMix 2.5.7

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 23 Oct 17:42

OpenChatMix 2.5.7

The Nova Elite gets its Bluetooth equalizer, and SteelSeries presets go on the way GG sends them.

Highlights

  • Bluetooth equalizer on the Nova Elite (experimental). The Elite has a second equalizer for sound over
    Bluetooth, such as from a phone. A switch above the equalizer on the Headset tab now chooses between the
    main one (2.4 GHz) and this one, with the SteelSeries presets and ten band sliders.
  • Presets as GG sends them. On the Nova Elite and Nova 7 Gen 2, Bass Boost, Focus and Smiley use shelves
    on their lowest and highest band like GG's, and the Elite gets their names too. Notch filters in GG's game
    presets reach the Elite as notches.
  • Focus fixed. Its 4 kHz, 8 kHz and 16 kHz bands were wrong; it now matches GG's on every headset.

All of this comes from @Lasfecas's second USB capture in #6, which also confirmed how shelf and pass filters are
sent. Thanks! If something doesn't sound right on yours, please tell us in #6.

OpenChatMix 2.5.6

Choose a tag to compare

@Swiftlyx Swiftlyx released this 23 Oct 05:14

OpenChatMix 2.5.6

The Nova Elite and Nova 7 Gen 2 get a parametric equalizer on the Headset tab.

Highlights

  • Parametric headset equalizer. On the Arctis Nova Elite and Nova 7 Gen 2 the Headset tab now has
    the same response graph as the Equalizer tab: ten filters, each with its own type, frequency, gain and
    Q. Drag a point left or right for the frequency, up or down for the gain, turn the mouse wheel over it
    for Q, or set it all in the band editor below. It runs in the headset itself, so GG can stay closed.
  • GG's game presets, as GG sends them. On these headsets a game preset goes on with its own filters
    instead of being fitted to ten bands. For the presets in @Lasfecas's USB capture in #6, the bytes are
    the same as GG's.
  • Presets keep the filters. Saved headset presets hold the filters, plus the closest ten-band curve, so
    they still load on headsets with fixed bands.

Other headsets keep their ten band sliders. Both equalizers are still experimental on these headsets: the
peak filter is confirmed, while shelf and pass filters follow the vendor's protocol description. If one of
them doesn't sound right, please tell us in #6 or #7.
